Look out for models from Voltas, Carrier, Blue-Star, O-General, Hitachi n Daikin.. These're cooling experts..
Friends have told me even Onida is doing good.. But forget eLGee, chamchung n all.. Develops problems over the course of usage.. Agreed some may not've so far..
Look for an AC with a good star rating.. 2-3 n above are reasonably good..
Pl invest in a good stabiliser..

And you suggest O-general,Carrier & bluestar ???
O-General is the best among the brands but it starts at 21k for a basic model !!
Bluestar now concentrates on corporate cooling solutions(central air conditioing & stuff!),so forget window ACs from them..
not many buy carrier window ACs these days coz they tend to be unreliable ..
don't believe me,ask any local AC Technician..the best source !
@abhisheksahas
I suggest you for a basic 1.0 ton ' LG ' Window AC (comes with a remote too)..retails for around 13.5k..
else you could consider voltas or samsung window ACs..
the 1.0 ton models usually come under 15k..
