A guy in Delhi offered me Toshiba Portege M400 tablet laptop with Core2Duo 2.0GHz, DVD Burner, Bluetooth, WiFi, Fingerprint sensor, etc. Touchscreen pen is included. Also is included an additional 10.5 hrs. long battery with it. He's asking 30K.

It's used but says it's in good condition with no defects.

Should I go for it ?

no

@ 32k you can get the core i3 powered dell 14/15 with an ati radeon 4330

toshiba may be well built and all but the after sales service is handled by hcl--which isn't very reliable and there have been mixed responses to hcl's service - mostly negative.

the laptop you are looking at is either very old or third hand--toshiba tablets are expensive and the cheapest tablet in the market is a hp tablet with an amd cpu and that sells for 48k.

its not wise spending 30k on a machine that is

(a)an older model

(b)second hand

(c)has no warranty

(d)there are better machines available out there that perform much better than ur config

(e)if you need battery life go for an acer timeline/dell 11z/13z or a netbook.

This guy Sunny surely know what he's talking about. I have a friend in HCL's corporate sales division who tells me that one should try to steer clear off the brands like HCL & Wipro. His basis of saying this is although most of the laptops and their parts are made at either China or Taiwan the difference is in the design of the chassis and the quality of parts used and QC. Toshiba has a wierd placement in the Indian market. They are themselves not sure if they are in the premium or medium or the low end segment. If I were you I would avoid Toshiba.
