Suggestions required for 5.1ch speaker system

Hi,
I am looking to purchase a 5.1ch speaker system. I am complete noob in audio systems and have always used the default sound coming out from my tv or my lcd now. I also do not understand the different connectivity options as such. My budget is from 10-15k.

My requirements are
1. Connecting my Lg 42inch Jazz LCD tv to the speakers.
2. Connecting my xbox arcade to the speakers.
3. Connecting my wdtv live to the speakers.
4. If possible also want to connect my ipod touch or use it as a dock.

Please advice/suggest all the alternatives and different connectivity options.

Hi,

I have heard about the above mentioned model and i would be willing to extend for it. Can you please tell the least known selling price for it.

Also can i connect all the above mentioned devices to it, if yes how?

An afterthought,

setting up 5 speakers around the hall would be a messy job with all wiring and stuff(if i am mistaken pls correct me or suggest alternatives)

Is there something called as wireless speakers, after doing google all i found were ipod docks. Can they be used to connect to xbox, wdtv etc also?

Are you looking at HT ? Have few samsung HT in mind for 10000 Rs
 
Hi Praks,

I assume HT to be HomeTheater, i am not sure why i would need that.

I probably just need speakers to connect to my various systems as mentioned above.

BTW now i am seriously considering 2.1ch cause i am afraid of all the wiring that would have to be done spoiling the look of my hall!

Unless i could use some ipod dock as speakers or there exists some kind of wireless speakers within my budget.

I am not sure about x540 hence cannot comment on it.

Waiting for some more responses from experts here.

Well I am also looking for it... Check out Samsung HT Z200 - Comes with Optical In & Wireless too , So no cable mess - Around 9000 Rs

Have one question, i do not need the dvd player system, can i get just the speakers??

Also there is another model HT Z310 which has bluetooth to which i can probably connect my ipod too.

Is there any way to connect my ipod to Z220. And how much would the wireless module cost?

Also is buying a HT more prudent than buying a speaker system?

I am planning to check sound effect of this Samsung HTs over weekend. As you are in Bangalore let me know if you like to meet up & go for Demo. Have Avatar 720p with me so will check Dolby Digital Capability.

I dont need to BT so not thinking of 310,

Z220 is within budget, with FM, They have AUX In so you can connect iPOD too. DVD player comes by default, if I am not wrong it has chips which amplifies & decodes those dolby digital signals, so without that its of no use.

Speaker in 5.1 - I found only X 540 but again no Dolby Digital, Virtual Surround, No Optical, No FM, No Wireless. mmmm too many negative things...

Let me know incase you check demo of Samsung HT

the main usp for going with this HT is the wireless rear speakers,

but if you try to search for them they dnt seem to be avilable here in india

20north was selling the module for 20k!!

Also people reported lot of incompatibility issues.

Can u throw some light on this, without the wireless thing make no use for me.

Z200 seems to have vanished from the samsung site, also the z310 price has risen exponentially to 14k from 10k in a day!!!

whats happening!
 
If u plant to go for wired speakers logitech Z550 is best option int his price category.
