Suggestions required for setting up an intranet forum

I want to setup a forum like Techenclave on our Intranet server.
So, please suggest that which software should i use to setup the forum. Also, which backend database should i use for the forum?

Try SMF ( SimpleMachineForums ) Its pretty good and with excellent support. Backend database can be MySQL.

Also what OS is the server running on ?

Oh and SMF is free also.

I think the host OS is Windows.

Vbulletin is paid so is IPB..
try phpbb2 or 3 (its still in beta but pretty stable ) or u can also try PHPnuke

U can have lots of mods for SMF also. Also ask Darky for more details, coz he set up a forum using SMF only. Check him out at thehardwarelabs.com or check his MSN in the members list.

sorry to revive an old thread, but there is another query relating to this :

I have an intranet website running on IIS 5.0 (XP) on a local domain at my workplace. How would i incorporate SMF after i download it ?
