hey guys, have a query here... my sister has been using her old dell studio for a while now, her main use is just surfing various websites, listening to music (she uses her phone more) and downloading pdfs (magazines, books)
she has a kindle paperwhite aswell for proper reading.. wants to watch tv shows, play basic games like plants vs zombies etc etc thats about it

need a tablet suggestion or one of those convertibles (tablet / pc)

there isnt any budget but she would like to keep it on something thats bang for the buck.
i can put some cash into the buy aswell as long we get something worthwhile . please give ur suggestions, thanks

ordered the t100 guys, feel its the most bang for the buck. shes been using a c2d so the quad core baytrail should be more then enough.
plus she really really wanted to get a tablet. she watches alot of youtube/course videos and it made sense, doesnt have to switch on the bulky studio anymore.

@ubergeek @ankit360 - thanks guys for all ur suggestions and help

Dayum thats a nice price for the table is the warranty covered in india?[DOUBLEPOST=1396264144][/DOUBLEPOST]DUDE you could have used ebaytech75 to get 7.5% off

No coupons were working, but I was ok with it, it's cheaper at snapdeal but I ordered from the smc store at eBay as I'm sure it should carry the Indian warranty and come with a proper bill so now just waiting for it to ship out :)

i read the reviews, its not the best, its more suited for indoor use (which is where she plans to use it), but for the price im not complaining. and the more the reviews u read about the t100, ever body says its bang for the buck and they have no real complaints about it.. its an impulse buy... well see what happens

I don't know much about this segment of products. A few reviews i saw showed the screen to be a bit weak, but ok for indoors use. Tend to get a bit spoiled by the other mobile devices that always tout nice screens and high rez. Then again i've gotten away with pretty avg laptop screens for years and not complained.

Thing is t100 can run any program that runs on 8.1, its not limited like RT so functionality wise you've got a tablet/low power laptop that works like a pc without the bulk. If that was the primary objective then you have it. And the price is lower than a premium tab from other operating systems. If cpu requirements are not demanding then this looks like a good buy.

@blr_p that was the exact reason for getting this, i needed portability of a tablet with keyboard support. and something that works all pc software without any issues. ive used the dual core 410pt atom, and this will def be faster then that, my sisters using a really old 2009 laptop, she does very basic things on the pc and for this i think they will be plenty powerful for her usage. hopefully they should ship out by today/tomorrow

So waiting for your sisters review then. Was talking to some friends the other day and they were going on about getting an ipad for similar reasons. course work. t100 may be a competitive alternative.

Looks like it has dual band N150 wifi. No ac with this model.

got it long back bro, posted it in the show off thread, aswell, ive been recommending it to others aswell

The "Everyday" show-off thread !

i think its a damn good kit for the price and what u can do with it. all depends on the use,
ie - for my sister, shes been using her dell studio alot lesser then she used to, prefers this to watch her shows, basic tasks like checking her email, mild gaming (from windows store), youtube videos. so its a good purchase id say for her use, and for someone who doesnt want to bulk their entire laptop for regular tasks, atom has come a long way.. depending upon an individuals use, id highly recommend it

Here's the 5 month old engadget review.

This looks like a serious competitor to 10 inch android tabs and it comes with a keyboard.

Battery life on this thing rivals 10 inch androids which is something i was concerned about given the different CPU. The slightly more than HD screen allows it to do just that. if you can avoid full HD, battery life will be better.

Weight is less than my 10.1 note tab.

Screen brightness however maxes out at 300 nits so this is strictly an indoors tab, given it has no 3g options this is to be expected.
