Its been approx. 5 months since I migrated to a 23" but am not yet accustomed to widescreen surfing. TE looks horrible at that resolution, infact I usually resize my browser to 4:3 dimensions to surf. Infact apart from games and movies, doing any sort of work at this resolution is a pain.. :S Thank god at work place I have 19" 4:3 LCD's (which IMO provides the best experience working in MS Excel, Word, and Powerpoint which comprises 95% of my work life :) )

What about you guys, do you utilize the extra real estate? or is it 4:3 resolution for work?

I ususally surf on my netbook :P 10" screen, 1024x600.

But even when I am surfing on Full HD, on my 32" screen, I do not see any problems. Just that the right and left margins get a little bigger with TE.

hmmm....

Twin 24" LCD's at work. both at native res. Only put the work space in one LCD though. second one for work related things.

22" LCD at home at native res.

Everything is 16:9. Good for neck work out i guess.

4:3 - Dell U2007FP at work. Love this better than my 24" LCD (any LCD for that matter) at home. I've switched to my netbook anyway (1024 x 600) so doesn't matter. It's been a pleasure viewing TE using that. :)

I use mac at home (Dell sp2309w - 2048x1152)

and the OS manages the window sizing.

May be OT: I think apple guys are intelligent in this aspect..

the safari window resizes only to the webpage size upon clicking green button.

Even that happens to office files..

I think thats a great way to use large monitors.

Even the latest 27 does not feel waste of real estate..

im now used to 16:9 on my 23.5 incher display.

but when i was not used to it, i used to resize the browser and keep messenger etc in the free space.

you can make use of the spae better if you open two instance of the browser. 2 windows + multiple tabs..navigation can become faster.

hey is there any addon in firefox for this i mean a partition

I agree the extra wide space is PIA while surfing... I end up resizing (zooming-in) most of the sites in firefox so I can read comfortably while sitting at distance. But that also has side-effect of having to scroll a lot.

But for work... it's just amazing to have all that extra screen estate. Since I work a lot with Flash, Photoshop, Video apps and lot of coding in Dreamweaver having more screen space is real boon, the more the merrier. In that regards, I can't switch back to 4:3 monitor for working as everything gets crowded. :)

yea, i too resize my browser to 4:3-ish or even "portrait" scale to read websites... but i like widescreen monitor, i have my "task bar" to the left and vertical, i have my chat/IM window (kopete, miranda, pidgin whatever) to the right side... plus a few desktop gadgets like cpu meter and clock etc which i can all keep an eye on at the same time...

I don't have any problem viewing it fullscreen on my 1680x1050 (16:10) 22 incher :)

Same here. At work I have a 4:3 HP 20" monitor but prefer my 22" WS at home. Large screen, many windows. :ohyeah:

But yes, most of the time when I am working on documents or surfing web, CTRL++ is used a lot. Also, DPI settings are customized on my comp.
