Laptops Surge Protection & power questions

As laptops already have batteries I'm assuming we do not need to get a UPS for these.
But I think at the very least we would need a good Surge Protector with spike protection and line filtering. Isn't it? If so any recommendations on a good quality Surge Protector for this?

Also rather than a Surge Protector would a Voltage stabilizer like V-Guard be a better choice for a laptop? If so what do we need to look for when we get one of these?

TIA

yes u do need some surge protector..

u can buy belkin ~1400/- (@staples) or max series (any shop) much cheaper ~300/-

not sure if max is good or not but i have both..n till now no problem

before that in just one day I got my speakers , laptop and mobile got screwed because of surge!

p.s: I tried cheaper options also but found that the ground wire is not even properly connected forget abt the quality/design of protection devices...

After some more searching on the net I came across a discussion where it was recommended to use a UPS (without the laptop battery) if you are using your laptop as a desktop replacement (I can't find the link right now but will post as soon as I get it).

This sounds like good advice for those people who are using laptops as desktop replacements and makes sense too. It extends the life of the battery also as we only use it when we are on the move.
