Statistics have told us the true story. There is a yawning gap between the numbers of predicted deaths due to swine flu vis-à-vis the actual numbers. 2009 witnessed WHO declaring swine flu as a ‘pandemic’ leading to pharmaceutical companies investing fortunes in developing vaccines to combat the disease.

However, in a recent report, a leading health care expert has stated that swine flu outbreak was a “false pandemic†driven by drug companies that stood to make billions of pounds from a worldwide scare. Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg, head of health at the Council of Europe, has said that this false alarm has led to pharmaceutical firms ensuring “enormous gainsâ€, with countries squandering their health budgets on vaccinating millions against what was actually a mild disease.

The Council of Europe, the Strasbourg-based “senate†responsible for the European Court of Human Rights, has passed a resolution proposed by Dr. Wodarg, which calls for an investigation into the role of drug firms in this entire episode, who he believes have pressured WHO into declaring a global pandemic.

In a startling revelation, Documents acquired through the Danish Freedom of Information Act revealed that Professor Juhani Eskola – a Finnish member of the WHO board on vaccines called the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) – received almost 6.3 million Euros in 2009 for his vaccine research programme from the vaccine manufacturers GlaxoSmithKline. Furthermore, Danish journalists reported that six other members of ‘Strategic Advisory Group of Experts’ (SAGE) with financial ties to various pharmaceutical companies. Many of the pharmaceutical companies with which the vaccine board members had ties, are also the manufacturers of vaccines including the H1N1 vaccine like GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Novartis, Solvay, Baxter, MedImmune and Sanofi Aventis.

The drug company GlaxoSmithKline responded to Wodarg’s allegations. “Allegations of undue influence are misguided and unfounded. The WHO declared that H1N1 swine flu met the criteria for a pandemic. Responding to it has required unprecedented collaboration. As WHO have stated, legal regulations and numerous safeguards are in place to manage possible conflicts of interest,†it stated.

According to Dr. Wodarg, the fear that began with the avian flu virus caused governments to stockpile anti-flu drugs and put in place ‘sleeping contracts’ for millions of doses of vaccine. Dr Wodarg said: “The governments have sealed contracts with vaccine producers where they secure orders in advance and take upon themselves almost all the responsibility. In this way the producers of vaccines are sure of enormous gains without having any financial risks. So they just wait, until WHO says ‘pandemic’ and activate the contracts.†He also believes that these anti0viral drug manufacturers placed people in the cogs of the WHO and coaxed the organisation to soften its definition of a pandemic, thereby declaring swine flu a global pandemic. He further said: “We have had a mild flu – and a false pandemic.â€

This one is a difficult call, more likely what happens if you get it wrong ?

Flu's are quite contagious and with intl travel can cover the globe very quickly. Something new is always an unknown. So a few get it then spread it and its literally an exponential thing in terms of growth.

And if so is it better to err on the side of caution. This more than the drug conspiracy angle hinted at is the more likely reason. Watch the below vid and you will realise in many cases its better not to take the medication as the research time was very short and the side-effects were large.

Another thing to remember is that the panic over Swine Flu was mostly due to the speed with which the disease progressed. It killed people very fast. There was hardly any lag between getting infected and dying.

Many other diseases(like pneumonia, TB, etc) which kill more than double the number of people killed by Swine Flu progress much more slowly. So, you have time to diagnose it and treat it. Swine Flu patients didnt have the luxury of time. That is alsowhy it led to the panic.
 
Of course, some people are bound to make a lot of money in case of any natural disaster. Even the polio vaccinations (which they still are unable to get rid of after so many years) are the same. But I'd wait for a better/more sources before believing that it was a hoax.
 
Polio vaccine is usually adminstered to kids on sugarcubes I thought.

Lots of kids being born so have to give to them right ?
 
Swine Flu as its being called is caused by an Influenza Virus H1N1.

H1N1 virus has been doing round for quite sometime.

The Influenza vaccines have short shelf life, and every season newer strains of viruses are discovered and introduced in the strains.

So in effect If you are into the high risk group, and extreme traveller you need to take these vaccines at every season, this will bring down the severity of Flu symptoms.

Now coming back to swine flu, this year the strin of H1N1 was mutated more aggresively and it got transferred to human from pig, so it got the name.

The casualties were the early infection catchers, old age people, immune compromised patient, kids, and those who initiated the treatment late.

The rate of casualties was not that much alarming, but the more pronounced fear was the country like us where the health system is governed by private service providers, it was likely to cause havoc.

So the alarm bells were ringing everywhere, and as the laws of economics, whenever there is opportunity there will be lobbyists, exploitors, beneficiaries.

In the western countries there is big clout of corporates over governments so these alarm bells are likely to be more louder.

Remember Bird Flu, anyone, few years back? This bloody virus is same only thing is, its little mutated and with different carrier.

Few precautions you can take :
Keep your self clean everyday, wash hands frequently, keep your environ clean.
Eat healthy food.
When travelling preferably eat hot cooked food rather than stored tasty cold food.
If you are suffering from simple flu keep wearing mask and spectacles.
Drink plenty of water.

Even if you feel tinyest of symptoms consult your doctor.

Dont Panic.

Swine flu is curable, if you feel the urge to cure it. :D
 
Notice how the virus changes a single molecular arrangement and gets completely resistant to all existing meds......hmm.....whoever said man was the only one with a brain???
 
I think UN also declared that this is a pandemic which will be staying with us. i.e., it will never go away from our population, will visit now and then.

This reminds me of ICU hospital visit in Kerala. There, you will still find random deaths because of different fevers (rat fever, dengue, tomoto fever and what not) which are not even diagnosed successfully in time. They say they are not so used to deceases till these recent times.

Many suspects humans intervening (mafia linked with pharma) alternating genetic makeup of viruses /bacteria.
