Guys I currently have 5MBPS Plan from ClassicNet Broadband it works (sort off) with a lot of disconnections & I am tired of complaining to them..

Downloading files using download managers (JDownloader) works fine get speeds anywhere from 230 KB/s ~ 480 KB/s but single file downloading from Browsers sucks big time only get about 30 KB/s ~ 50 KB/s

I also have MTNL Broadband 1MBPS as backup line but due to the problems with the ClassicNet Broadband I have to use it more often than I want to.

So I want to ditch ClassicNet & my immediate thoughts were to get a leased line from somebody & since MTNL Center is like 500 meters away from my place I thought why not use MTNL only.

I was on MTNL's site looking for plans & I decided on the 8MBPS Leased Line which costs Rs 59556/- annually which should be about Rs.4963/- P.M

http://mtnlmumbai.in/index.php/leased-circuits/tariff-2mbps-and-above

Now my question is has anyone from Mumbai used / using MTNL Leased Lines? How is the connection stability? What equipment does MTNL Provide for Leased Lines? Is it worth the Switch? What will be the Upload Speed (its not mentioned anywhere on their site) ?

Another question is do they accept monthly payment instead of the annual one?

I will be contacting them tomorrow anyways to inquire lets see how it goes.

Admin can you move this topic please.... I posted in the wrong section... Sorry!

Leased lines terminate on the serial interface of a router, that too a proper enterprise router (Cisco/Juniper) and not a home one. The router would need to have a serial interface, E1 is the standard followed in this part of the world, however, since you need 8mbps, it would be a DS1. On top of that you need a fast ethernet interface to connect the router to your LAN. All these are really expensive.

Why dont you just get rid of the classicnet connection and upgrade the MTNL ADSL connection?

^ If its 1 time investment its worth it whether serial interface / otherwise... Although i think MTNL would be providing the router as well..

MTNL ADSL doesn't have any good plans except for 4MBPS & that costs a liver. 2MBPS @ 4999 wouldn't be enough speed that the reason I downgraded my 2MBPS connection to 1MBPS in the first place.

I am going to call them today and see if they have monthly payment options for their leased lines, the rest equipment charges I am willing to pay as those would be 1 time.

I learnt that Leased Lines / Circuits that have tariff on MTNL site is just a Leased Line from My Location to MTNL Servers, NO internet Is available on that so there is no point of that.

what i should be looking for is Internet Leased Lines.

Ok so MTNL Internet Leased Line would cost me 4 lacs for 4 MBPS & 8 Lacs for 8 MBPS

i'll make 0 Profit if go for 8 MBPS

Reliance 4MBPS (1:1) @ 240000/- annually vs MTNL 4MBPS at 410000/-

how can reliance be cheaper than MTNL?

Is reliance offering a leased line at that price? Mind you, reliance service sucks as far as LL's are concerned. It may take them days, even weeks to fix your issue.
