Sync App for Windows + Mac

Hey guys, I just picked up the new 320GB Seagate Freeagent GO, so now what I want to do is, create similar folders on my Mac, PC and Ext HDD (E.g. My Pics, My Music, etc etc) all with the similar contents.

I want an app, that will automatically sync to the Ext HDD, as I keep shuffling it between the PC and Mac. So basically if I need to transfer Pics from the Macbook, all I need to do is sync it to the Ext HDD, plug the HDD into the PC and sync and at the same time, it'll sync new music from the PC to the HDD, I hope you get what I'm saying ;)

Please do let me know if this is possible, freeware, then all the better!

Why not? Most apps (including syncback) do a scan of the files present n both locations defined in the profile. You can usually set the criteria for comparison like date-time/size/filename or even checksum (more time intensive/not required IMO) and then define what action you want to take for different files (copy from source to target, copy both ways etc etc).

If you are assuming that each program run will store some info, then not many programs require that :)

Edit : It's working like a charm! My syncing is sorted it seems.

Try syncback then :P But be prepared for some time for the first time sync. Subsequent syncs should be faster since less number of files are to be compared.

I basically want a certain set of folders to have exact copies on my desktop and laptop.

Syncback supports network drives :)

If you map the n/w drives it should work then , in second copy.

I just checked out , if you share a folder or your laptop and if you can view those shares on your desktop then second copy can sync to it. :hap2:

I guess any sync app can sync to shared folders [My guess]
