Hello!

Recently, I have started facing this problem, where, my system hangs for about 5-10mins after the memory check and "Memory runs at single channel" msg.

I can't enter setup or anything for 5-10mins after that, then the system boots up normally..

I'v tried clearing the cmos by removing the batt for about an hour, but still no luck..

I am using a GA G31 ES2l board with Transcend 1GB DDR2 800mhz ram along with an intel e5200
Thanks :)

Try to reset the bios to its defaults by shorting the cmos jumper. Refer to your motherboard manual for the same.

Is that the only ram u using in your system? try it in another DIMM/ram slot.

Also try your friends ram on your pc and see.

let us know the results.

also, post your system specs.

Reinstall SATA data and power cables followed by testing memory stick in another system.Check whole system for lose cards/cables.

Yeah, only ram I got..

System specs

e5200

GA G31M S2l

1gb transcend 800mhz ram

80GB sata HDD (other HDD is in the process of being RMA'd, this one is on it's way out at well constant noise while performing read/writer and random reboots)

DVD drive thats's currently not connected, only the IDE cable is connected Mobo side (keep swapping btw the DVD drive and my back up IDE drive every once in a while)

I tried removing the CMOS battery for sometime and putting it back, it still froze at the first screen, then proceeded to BIOS where I set the time and thats about it.. I'll check out how to short the jumper today..

Regarding checking memory, thats going to be a tough one :| will running something like prime help? I don't have ready access to a DDR2 based system..

Tks!

Hey, I just figured out that I have this problem only when my mp3 player is plugged into the usb port..

and moreover, this has started only after I put rockbox onto my player... Is there any fix for this? It shouldn't be happening right?

tks!

are you plugging the mp3 player in front usbs??

try rear usbs of motherboard.

also check whether your usbs are running at full speeds or hi speeds from bios.

else it sure that rockbox is causing the problem.

it's plugged in from the rear.. I haven't got a front panel.. :p

And yes.. I think it's rockbox's bootloader + boot from usb enabled in the Bios that's confusing the bios :)
