Two days ago I happened to use one pen drive. As soon as the system detects the drive norton started popping with different virus. So i scanned thoroughly and it required to RESTART to complete its scanning. so i did restart. After that my system booting time elevated to 180seconds(approx). Earlier it was around 60seconds. And my system started responding slowly. Now dvd burning time too elevated to 25minutes. Earlier it was 14minutes.

I have norton 2007 updated and active one. I scanned several times and nothing brings back it to normal. i don't know what i should do to make my system perform faster.

Give me a solutions guys....

do a spyware check also..

if doesnt help, change to some other AV.. norton AV supposed to have a rootkit which almost damaged ur computer and became slow

Completely Uninstal Nortan and Instal Kaspersky and perform Full system Scan and check for the spywares also...

If there is some virus lefout in the system, it will not allow Kaspersky to be installed.

i guess there are some malware left which norton is not able either to detect or disable.

so best way, is try other antivirus. most will require the existing anti virus to be uninstalled

i in your place would rather prefer to download Sophos treat detection kit. Sophos Threat Detection Test - free test for your anti-virus

is very well rated and detects most virus. and doesnt require uninstall of existing antivirus :)

you will have to sign up on there site to download it though. (it is free 30 day trial version)

Do a hijackthis scan and post the log file at the hijackthis.de website to find out if there are still some unnecessary programs and entries.
