os is xp sp-2 and have a p4 3 ghz.. and 865gbf mother board..... the problem that has been recurring for the past three months is that system automatically restarts without any warning.... And upon relogging up come a message saying "windows has recovered froma very serious error".... so plzzz lemme know hat is worng???

I had the same prob on my Athlon XP system. In my case it was because of a hardware conflict bitween the TV tuner card and the internal modem. They wouldn't work in adjacent slots.

May be the problem resides in the operating system.Install simple WINDOWS XP without servid\ce pack an if the problem still persist Check the RAM and RAM slotts ,they might be creating problem

Software or driver conflict. Do some observation and see whether your system restarts if you launch an application, leave your comp idle and c whether ur system restarts or not.

I had this problems on an Intel D 101GGC motherboard using a cel 2,66GHz CPU and the RAM 256Mb... Oh..lots problems on the D101 incl installation from their own Intel SW particularly the Audio then i had to change the motherboard out...but i presume in your case may be the RAMS defective???? troubles can be in your SPMS also..please check them out i encountered one with the same problems of rebooting...after changing the SMPS its Ok (I still have to look into that smps:D )... try them out :D

If it says...
"Windows has recovered from a very serious error"...its just a RAM problem.

Two common reasons:
1. One or more RAM DIMMs not working properly/damaged.
2. RAM DIMMs core speed not accurate (in case of two of same company and make).

My comp mechanic too said its just a Ram problem. He told me to remove Ram and rub the golden portion with an eraser. BUT the peoblem was still there.

Just installed Win XP Pro again. And it is working fine now.

yeah i also had the same problem....it was due to mis matching RAM. (hope all ur RAM r of same group).sometimes..it happens when it is not working properly or if it is not fixed properly to the slot.if ur problem gets solved, plzz let me know what was the exact solution??

RAM... Do u do lots of programming ??? Probably memory leaks... Also check the amount of RAM at the time of booting matches your installed RAM... Also when u get the Message about serious error does it ask to send it to MS ?? If yes then there is a report in that message.. Check that report data and google it...
