Hello Friends,

Today while I start my P4, as soon as XP start loading, suddenly it reboot & ask for boot source, I was in wonder & within few seconds it shutdown finally before I take any action.

I try 2-3 times to start it but no success. Open cabinet & find out that as soon as I push the power switch CPU & PSU fan start for seconds also HDD LED blink once & than stop.

Cabinet Power Led keep glowing normally.

Monitor led light keep blinking all time, led indicator on motherboard glow normally.

I also check using power cable but no use. Also disassemble all system & re-assembled it but NO HELP.

System Configuration are as Following (from last 7 years- NEVER face such problem before).

P4 2.4ghz with intel stock heat-sink & fan.

Intel 845GBV Motherboard.

1gb Corsair DDR1 RAM (512x2)

Powersafe Gold 400w PSU

80gb IDE HDD

LG IDE writer

Creative Lan Card

Keyboard & Mouse

Any suggestion please?

Thanks

Strip down the system and connect minimal items... no accessories,,just mobo, proc, ram, kbd and psu. reseat the RAM .... connect just the display, that to onboard, remove any expansion card.,...check if u get any display and whats the message? Plz remember all hdd and cdrom aso needs to be disconnected. if all is fine, connect just the hdd and see now whats the message after a reboot. Also set BIOS to defaults.

uziel,

Just did as you said- no improvement just as it is (as first post) one more thing noticed (which I miss in first post) PSU fan ran with CPU fan for few seconds. Also try by removing one RAM stick but no help.

^ cant you use your other pc's psu for testing?

problem could be with dying psu, cabinet power switch, or cpu heating due to very old thermal paste? (doubtful), faulty ram sticks?, and lastly mobo.

Do one thing - can you try running this pc without cmos battery installed?

Sorry friends,

forget to reply, I check system with other PSU - iball 400w & it works like charm... bad luck that 1.7k/1.8k PowerSafe Gold 400w PSU died in just 4.5 years of it's purchase ... wondering how PSU went Kaput :(

Now plan to buy VIP 400w for 0.5k with 3 years warranty.
