Taare Zameen Par has entered IMDB Top 250

Those always cribbing about the fact that there's no Indian movie on IMDB Top 250 start looking for something else. Taare Zameen Par is at #143 on the Top 250 as I write this.

Taare Zameen Par (2007)

It has the least number of votes in the Top 250 list (only 1,430) but has still reached there coz of its exceptionally high rating of 9.5. On the Top 250 list it only shows a rating of 8.1 coz they use a complex formula where there's weightage for a lot of different factors.

Anyway, lots of better movies under it and some overhyped commercial trash above it. At the end of the day its only a list but its nice to see a Bollywood movie there. However, 9.5 is a li'l much and it seems all the Indians starved for quality entertainment in their own language went ahead and gave it a 10. But then it also makes up for the lack of voters Bollywood movies have.

P.S. - Hollywood connoisseurs start quoting all the great classics ranked below it and over-zealous patriots start making arguments why its should be pushed even higher. :eek:hyeah:
 
Naah...at one time Munnabhai was topping the comedy genre. But i think munnbhai deserved more than TZP to be on the list.
 
I just hope that the indians dont go abt voting for the indi movies to make them into the top of the list at imdb ...

we got a bad habit of doing all this .. :)

Well irrespective of we being indians, there is nothing wrong in voting perfect 10 for a outstanding movie.

There is nothing much to complain about TZP. Its different subject for a bollywood movie. And when movie like this comes out its ought to get perfect scores.

Last heard, the Oscars panel have decided to send RamGopal Varmas' GO to the Oscars !! :rofl: ... Nah, just Kidding :D

Yeah, even i am hoping that Taare Zameen Par goes to the Oscars. But then, with some "extremely talented people" in the Oscar selection panel, 'GO' really stands a chance of getting selected.

Anyway, it feels nice to see an Indian movie in the IMDB top 250 list....And it deserves to be there too..a beautifully made movie
 
Wow .. an even more interesting reading. This is the IMDB Drama genre which Taare Zameen Par is topping right now. And its not like there are some random ass movies in the Drama Top 10. The other movies are all giant time-tested greatest-movie-ever-made type classics (apart from this year's "There Will Be Blood").

Now what will happen is fans of Godfather/Shawshank etc. will give this small movie 1 without watching it to get it down from there. Which is not completely unfair, considering this is what happens to most other movies. There have been huge voting wars in the past between fans of Godfather and Shawshank which is why both of these great movies have so many low votes.

As for Munnabhai, it seems it had also entered Top 250 in the past. Thank God, it dropped out. It was a good movie but I can name a dozen Hindi movies which were infinitely better. Nothing from that movie remained with me once I left the theatre. It was just a well-made commercial movie with a nice message. Wish they put "Hazaaron Khawishein Aisi" there.

dont say that..cause IMO both Munnabhai ..1 and munnabhai 2..were ...2 really good movies...and i think ..there will be many people who will agree to to it..

... Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Golmaal, Rang De Basanti, etc. ... all better than Munnabhai. And I don't even watch that many Hindi movies.

Munnabhai 1 and 2 were both good movies no doubt. But there are many Hindi movies which are just as good and much better. And for a musical, Munnabhai's music kinda sucked and was a major nuisance coming between the story. Hope TZP doesn't have (m)any songs.

"Hazaaron Khawishein Aisi" is def a jewl i lost its sound track.. dose any one have that. i would def like to have it again
 
TZP is really a good movie. Who cares if its on the IMDB top 250 list or not! I'd give it a perfect 10, after watching tons of crap that indian cinema comes out with every year. Heart warming to see a genuine story, and that too which has an impact on everyone's life.
 
i wont be surprised if this movie wins a oscar itself it deserves every bit of oscar fame :hap2: :D

theres no need to, those people who truly feel the movie will definetely rate it 10/10 "Vote ke liye Awaaz karo ki zarurat nahi padegi" :p
