Hey guys,

Before I ask my questions, let me make one thing clear "I have a fetish with TABLE TENNIS THE GAME."

So now:

I have a 6 year old Butterfly paddle with me which has served me quite well, but I believe its time for a well deserved upgrade.

Which brands are good? What about overclockability?

Please comment.

Regards,

Karan

Any constraints on the budget? I spent about Rs3000 on mine almost 9 years back. I guess things are costlier now. But then you always get decent ones from Rs500.

Around that. Since this is a long time investment, why not get a good one. I have played a lot of "sports" but havent found anything close to the intensity of TT.

WHich brands would you suggest? I am leaning towards another Butterfly.....

Karan

well butterfly is the one which i used everytime i played.. except for one which belonged to shield brand..

Butterfly wil always be a good choice..

Butterfly and Nisaku are very good brands.

If you want to go for the best then it has to be STAG (U mustve seen Stag Tables). My Dad had bought a Stag Bat from France for me (200 Francs, great bat, but I broke it :( ).

If you can source from abroad, you can get a Butterfly blade with Yasaka Mach V rubber on one side and another Yasaka(but not mach V rubber) on the other side.

I was heavily into TT a few years back. Stupid studies and tuitions put paid to all that. And I have a Stag racket.... got it for 1.5K from one of my coaches.

Was abt to upgrade to the latest thing which was used byall me seniors in that academy but then decided not to as I would hardly use it :'(

i used to play TT a long time back that time i used something called KUNG-FU, i think its for the beginners i suppose. don't remember any other brands now totally not in touch with the game :(

well get a custom one (a rackets life starts from when the rubber is stuck to the handle coz the fresh the rubber the better the paddle) , my mama ji used to be a professional player i will ask him which parts to use. He got one made a couple of days back and he told me tht it is way cheaper here than USA.

Ahh, finally something where I can truly show off.

Now for my stats :

1. Played for Goa 3-times (2 times at Sub-Junior / Junior Nats, 1 time at West Zone)

2. 2004 Sub-Junior Team event quaterfinalist

3. 2003 Individuals India Top-32 Rank...:D

4. Loads of titles locally...:P

5. Highest ranked 3rd in the state.

If you guys don't belive me, I can post pics of trophies, I aint like vandal :P

Now for equiptment, I have 4 racquets :ashamed:

Will give you configs in order of cost/performance (Blade / FH Rubber / BH Rubber ):

1. Butterfly Schlager Carbon / Butterly Bryce / Buttefly Bryce FX - 8k

2. Buttefly Primorac Carbon / Butterfly Bryce / Butterfly Sriver G2 - 7.6k

3. Butterfly Arylate eXtreme / Butterfly Sriver G2 / Butterfly Bryce FX - 5.6k

4. Butterfly Jonyer HL / Butterfly Sriver / Butterfly Sriver FX - 3.2k

Its also rated as Oldest to newest.

Since I turned Pro, I never played with anything apart from Butterfly.

Also what your playing style Karan, I'm a Power-Driver of sorts, with an aggresive FH Drives, and mostly BH Loops.

heh, I think the higher end butterfly bats are good enough. I need a bat in Mumbai too, so this is good for me.
I actually weight modded mine, and used to abrase one of the sides to get spin. My uncy got me a stag in 1998, great but I don't think they'll be available here, and won't be worth the premium if they are...Haven't seen any Nisaku around..
Any place in Vashi~Nerul~CBD where I can pick up a good bat??

Yo anish mate.... what's up with the shots here that u ain't like me.... If u see me in person, you'll realise that u can never be me :bleh: ... very few people can .. to my credit naturally..

as far as your trophies go we all have em :P just different types..

edit not spammin just saw anish's reply... mods can merge this thread

woot..... nice performa.....

and double woot..... 8k for 1 racquets..... OMG

can anything be arranged for say 4k-5k? i want the best available for that price.

my playing style:

predominantly FH, shot making.... not into drives much.... i smash everything thats comes within reach.... back hand loops.... preety weak there actually.... prefer to play outside table.... and dont watch the ball also .... weird i know....

^^ Yup, I'd suggest this :

4. Butterfly Jonyer HL / Butterfly Sriver / Butterfly Sriver FX - 3.2k

It'll make a great combo, the blade is light and good for people who haven't formed stroke's, plus you can switch to Bryce / Sriver G2 anytime if you want more speed or you can speed glue as well.

@ Vandal - J/k mate ;)

Actually, I was heavily in TT before my 10th. My bro's who 11 has already played for the state, both my cousins too are pretty good.

Maybe cause we have our own small "TT Center" at our spare villa, which includes a robot as well...:)

Very cool Anish! Do you know someone called Glen D'Costa who was in the TT circuit? And its very tough here to even get into decent state ranks, a lot of good players.

And the butterfly seems good enough. I had a chart showing the spin/speed ratings of about 20 rubbers. I made my decision based on that. Took a rubber with even mix of both for my FH and a rubber with a small bias towards speed for by BH.

Raghu.

Glen D'Costa... hmm which year did he play or does he still play. Ask him, he'll probabaly have heard of me..:P

A TT playing robot?? :P
anyways I used ta play for the YMCA, won the inter schools in jab in class 10 n 11.. nothing great... get to play with chicks now at office :ohyeah:

^^ Selection Centre, Dhobitalao, Mumbai.

That's where I order everything except 1 of my Blade's my dad got from Japan.

Tell Ad1 to ship :bleh:
