Tablet for Office work !

Hey !

Need your advice on buying a tablet. My friend is coming from USA next week, so i can ask her to get a tablet for me. Here is what i am looking for -

1. Should be able to do office work (Mails/Excel/ppt etc)
2. Good battery back up
3. Big Screen

4. Support for Tata Photon !
5. GSM connectivity ( this will be a great add on)
6. Range - 12k - 24k

Please suggest.
 
I would hold on for 2 months, a diverse range of Windows 8 / RT tablets/hybrids are coming. They are perfect for your needs, a massive improvement over Android/iPad for productivity, especially the models with detachable keyboard docks. ARM-based Windows RT tablets will be reasonably priced and includes Office 2013. If you must buy a tablet today from the US, I would recommend Asus Transformer Pad 300 with the dock.
 
Thanks for the info mate. At what price range is this ? Does it have 3G as i ll be on the run !

Apart from this, at what price can we expect surface to be launched ?

iPad does not have a keyboard. For office work, you would need it. If not, then go for it. Asus transformer comes with a keyboard dock. The keyboard dock is not only a keyboard, but it also has USB ports, microSD card slots etc. It also gives you around 6 hours more of battery backup. In India, it costs aroound 30K including the dock. I know because I have transformer TF101 with dual core and tegra 2. Now,, TF300 is available for the same price but it has a quad core processor and tegra 3 and is sleeker than mine. NOt sure about the US prices, but it should be around 400 USD including the dock. Check newegg, Amazon, tigerdirect etc. They are also available at walmart in US.

Bt, yeah, I would say, if you can wait, please do so as windows tablets would be out in a couple of months. It has the keyboard included in one sleek and sexy tablet cover. Thats right!! Keyboard in a COVER.... Even if you dont like windows 8 when it comes out, but price wars would be certain.

Well, i was thinking to wait for Surface & its like, but again it would not be in 20k category & it will be 1st generation.

The above Refurbished I Pad 2 Wifi + 3G is available for $400. i guess this is a good deal, correct me if i am wrong !
 
Yeah, it sounds like a good deal. But check the price of Transformer also. You might get it new for the same price including the dock....
 
you know hes also going to google for the link , maybe you can save the trouble and do it yourself?

Dude, follow these steps:

1) Log on to Amazon
2) In the search bar, type ASUS Transformer
3) Repeat for tigerdirect, newegg and/or any other e-commerce websites you know based in the US..

But yes, something like the Samsung Ativ (tablet with keyboard combo) or even MS Surface (don't know how long it will take to show up in India, if ever) would be nice to tote around the office!
