Feature Request

Similar to tagging someone in a facebook comment. And a notification on the top to show when you have been tagged in a post.

Would work well for call out threads, especially with neha :P

Lets migrate TE to Facebook :P

@OP, is it that necessary, here members are seldom tagged, mainly in the GT section where everything is HOT.
On second thought i don't mind that, it will be refreshing like the 'like' button :)

I don't play mafia wars, cafe world or who touched my poop facebook flash games. I use threadsy to check FB updates so..YEAH!!!

Had it been already available, u would have tagged me here in the opening post, isn't it?? :bleh:

I don't think this is a great idea... I don't like it on Facebook either. Personal opinion!! :P

Thats exactly what I was talking about! Can it be made such that posts quoted are automatically tagged? For example, I have quoted you. So you would be automatically tagged in this post. - Answering my own question = Yes, something like this is already in the feature list.

Its just an easy way of getting someones attention to a post/thread, while still keeping the discussion public.

For example, I had posted abt rooting my Spice Mi-300. I received a PM asking technical questions about it. He had asked the same questions in the corresponding thread too. I just did not notice the thread at all, and hence he had to take the trouble of PMing me. Also, my reply remained private - thereby not helping others with the same questions. I would have replied to his post if he had tagged me.

Members can also be tagged in posts that would benefit greatly from their opinion/expertise. For instance, I can tag techboi if I need his expertise about fashion and clothes. Otherwise I run the risk of him not noticing my thread/post and losing out on scoring with hot chicks.

If the admins are putting up this feature, please do make sure it comes with an off button on the User CP. I wonder if we have a spellcheck feature (Go Advanced is not working from my end).

Same tools can be used by trolls, plain annoying crybabies who bombard the threads with multiple quotes and epic sized paragraphs that doesnt make sense and people who dont bother reading older posts but want freshly typed tailormade advices. Not that I am saying this is redundant, but those who seriously want advice can always PM a person for a reply and will hardly call this as "trouble" (since when PMing people is considered as trouble?). If that person chooses to give an advice via PM that's his wish. Besides, if you give value to only one person's advice you're better off asking him via PM straightaway rather than tagging him on a post.

You complaining about epic sized paragraphs

Also, any modern browser has built in spellcheck. If people are dumb enough to ignore that, how would another tool for the same purpose help?

Yes, I hope it can be turned off just like the PM feature.

The issue with PMing is that the information is not public. Its much more helpful for everyone if the discussion is in the forums.

Not true. Tagging someone doesnt mean that I value only their opinion. Anyone can post in the thread, but just that I expect the taggee(s) to contribute because of their known expertise. Again, the information/discussion will be helpful for everyone, if its in the forums rather than PM.

I dont see the point of having a technical discussion over PMs. The whole point of a forum is lost.
