Apple which is already fighting with Samsung over various patents and had to pay $60 million to Proview over legal dispute in China , has been hit by a lawsuit from A Taiwan university .

Taiwan's National Cheng Kung university has filed a lawsuit against Apple over the use of voice recognition technology which is used in Apple's iPhone and iPad , saying it infringes on two of its U.S patents granted in 2007 and 2010 related to voice-to-text technology . The suit was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division, on Friday, it said.

"We filed that lawsuit in the Texas court because it processes faster and its rulings are usually in favour of patent owners and the compensations are usually higher," said Yama Chen, legal manager of National Cheng Kung, in the southern Taiwan city of Tainan.
He did not disclose he amount of compensation the university is seeking .

The university is also finding out whether other manufacturers using voice recognition systems like Google also infringes on its patents .
