Hello,

I m trying to run Tally 7.2 on Windows 8.1 but however it appears that due to compatibility issues it refuses to run. I tried changing its compatibility to XP but no help.

Also from Windows 8/8.1 MS have removed the XP mode.

What are my options, if any, to run it using any tool ?

IIRC my dad wasn't able to run Tally 7.2 on windows 7 either. XP mode also did not work for him. It worked only on windows XP OS or VMWare (which i did not want to do as it was too confusing for my dad) Only thing that would work was Tally 9 and he has since then bought Tally 9 officially to use in his laptop (windows 7).

It can be ran on Windows 7 with compatibility mode set to XP SP3 but Windows 8.1 is just refusing it. I tried installing VMWare Player and XP in that. But laptop is running significantly slow. Also I too find it confusing, may be its noob-ish but I do find it so. One more thing to note is I can not enter Unity mode in VMWare Player. Error message I get is - VMTools are not installed on guest something and other is resolution can not be changed on Guest something.
Laptop specs: Core i3-3rd gen - 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD.

If there is some guide which teaches about VMWare stuff I would like to give it a shot. I was referring to http://www.howtogeek.com/171395/how-to-get-windows-xp-mode-on-windows-8/[DOUBLEPOST=1386679903][/DOUBLEPOST]Update:
Figured this out using VMWare Player. It now directly has a shortcut on desktop of Windows 8 which will start VMWare and launch Tally subsequently.
