My Tata indigo LX - 2006 model has had this problem has plagued my car since the very first year. The dashboard is always sticky with dirt stuck to it.If, I clean it the black dirt gets rubbed around in swirls. It's been 8 years. Every service, I pat atleast a 1000 bucks to get it cleaned. As far as I know it's a manufacturing defect. And was rectified in later models

I have tried various off the shelf cleaners but never to any satisfaction including 3M solution.I think it was not a cleaner but only a shiner. The car service guys use some kind of light automotive acid to clean it but never could get it outside.

Anyone has any sure shot solution to this problem, preferably low-cost?

I heard isopropyl alchol works well in this situation.Got in one of the google results as I kept on hunting for solution to this problem.

i use a lot of stuff to tackle dirt on the dashboard. vinyl polish, Rin detergent, car shampoo, silicon spray, IPA, Mr Muscle etc. all work the same.

probably you are not using a good quality micro fibre cloth. a normal cleaning cloth would just rub the dirt deep into crevices.

I had a indigo dicor lx from 2007 to 2013 . Awesome car . When i got the interior professionally cleaned the first time ... the dashboard started becoming sticky in the summers . I think may be the professional cleaning solvents cause this problem . Btw my indigo dicor was awesome and my dzire or amaze are not half the cars it was .

No.. sticky solvents is a different thing. The dust from outside gets stuck on the dashboard and if not cleaned immeditely, becomes greasy and gunky. Even a mechanic's dirty hand once touched leaves a black mark which is not easy to clean.

BTW, first time I heard someone raving about an Indigo compared to the Dzire.

Indigo dicor and TDI were both different . I bought it when it was new in 2007 with the new headlights etc . Awesome torque ... Ample space ... Beats the dzire hands down ... Unreliable Tata service killed it with my alternator belts squeaking after every 6 months .
Sorry for OT. .

Super Success. i used surgical spirit that cost me 33 bucks for a small 100 ml bottle. sticky, greasy gunk goes right off when you use it with a micro fibre cloth to clean.Gotta love little lifehacks.
Olive oil was of no help.
