Video Tata Sky a conspiracy?

That blog seems like the rant of a paranoid man...

Some of his points are valid, but he has stretched it a little too far....

Frankly, did he really want to buy the world for the princely sum of 3K?[/QUOTE]

hmmm divided opinion as usual. The only point im really bothered about is the hardware. With a set-top box, you get to keep the equipment even after you discontinue the service. Sure it may not be of much use, but you get what you paid for. Also, you can change over to some other provider, without purchasing the equipment again.

If Tata takes away your hardware, there is no point paying the 3k just for subscribing to the service

The quality of Zee channels on TTSky sux, specially if you are on an HDTV. Star channels are fine. Unfortunately across the board, all industries in India follow the same socialistic structure of monopoly and gunda raj. Ppl rant and state 3k is nothing, but 100$ in US means a lot less to someone money wise than 3k in India, still they have more rights and better service. In India, in all sectors, mobile, broadband, DTH, etc we have nothing but hopeless service and an attitude like they are doing us a favor.

no where they are saying that they are giving HDTV broadcast...alhough considring that HDTV is now coming, they would have to do smthing...

hmm dunno what he is ranting abt though... most of the stuff that he wasnt't told.... the engiineer who came at my place to setup, told me abt it... he was even willing to fix up 2 TV's with 1 settop box if i agreed...

I think Tata Sky's service is pretty decent...

not just in terms of the transmission/broadcast, but also the quality of service at time of delivery/installation..

As for fixing 2/3 TVs with one STB, you certainly can, and i think it's an obvious fact that the tuner oon a single STB can tune in to only one channel at a time, and it would be retarded to think otherwise

I am sick & tired of hearing this over & over again...

Mobile: Cellphone services in India are INFINITELY better than US in terms of coverage, quality and cost...Not kidding, really!

broadband: We could certainly do with better services on this front, but things are definitely improving

Services in hotels, Restaurants is certainly far better here ...not that we don't have bad service levels in several sectors, but it's not as black & white a situation as some people tend to assume it is (except for govt. sector services where I do agree that there is a white & black difference :p )!

You cant run dishtv connection on TataSky set-top box....you will have to purchase dishtv set-top box....theres no point in keeping it...

they should decrease set-top box price like 1500-2000 or take monthly rental on set-top box like Rs.75-125

That thing was posted before.

http://www.techenclave.com/forums/just-installed-tatasky-88985-2.html

They have edited it a bit now. Atleast now they got it corrected that you do own the STB. Before same blog was saying the box is not yours.

ITS BUNCH OF BS.

Read the thread above and read my post there.

80% of the points are simply making big blah blah of nothing.

LOL I am sure DISH TV guys paid that blogger to post that heh.

I mean come on, any bum would know pointing DISH anywhere else than where its pointed is useless. sheesh............

I am sick too at how much we pay more to our world counterparts for shoddy services...

Lets not talk about coverage of mobile providers, as US having 3 times the area of India probably cant provide coverage on every highway, or has different providers when you change state. But lets talk technology... things like 3G, HDTV, true broadband, Wimax... Does India even compare to developed countries... Do we get unlimited mobile calling on weekends? Even in cities we are expected to pay more and get less. Be it cars, mobile phones, petrol/deisel.... every ounce of our hard earned money is squeezed out of us.

Barring labor intensive services, India lacks. Things like hotels etc offer better service here as labor is cheap, but apart from that you will find we dont lack from developed countries, but we cant even compete with China.

Tata sky is no exception to the norm its just behaving like any other company in India. Pay more get less!

Things are improving no doubt, but it will take time before we come out of the mentality of the 80's, spcly govt sector, where things cant happen wtihout paying the chaprasi to the clerk.

i love my cablewallah... i had dishtv and there was this option of moving dish to other satelites if you knew the frequency so that cool... and free to channels still comes after saying i am not subscribing anymore which is also neat....so i guess if i had to go to sthing i will prefer dishtv over tata
