Tataindicom Broadband Plan change problem

I just changed from 256 UL plan to DS222- 1000 Off Peak plan from tataindicom , which is 2mBps plan with day DL limit 1.5GB and NU free download ...(standalone ADSL plans: TATA Photon ADSL Tariff - Unlimited Internet Plans)

According to customer care , my plan is changed by 11pm yesterday , but today when i checked , I am getting same download speeds as 256UL plan ...:@

I tried talking to cc but hes telling 1:8 compression ratio shit(according to him i should get speeds varying from 256kBps to 2 mBps :rofl:) , I told him according to ur so called 1:8 compression ratio , I should get 256 kbps download speed !

Router is showing DSL Up rate as 256 kBps , so i guess it should show 2048kBps speed if my plan is changed ...

What could be the problem ?

Do DSL server address need change of I switch to high speed plan ?

Dude... its 2048kbps not 2048kBps. 2048kBps will be a 16mbps line....

Check using speedtest.net during night. You should get 240~250kBps download speed on a 2mb line
 
I used the same plan a while ago. You wont get 240-250KBps, more like 200-205KBps was what i used to get constantly. I had the same problem as you, it was solved when the TATA guy came to my place and i showed him the download speed i got. He called up his seniors i guess, and he asked them about this. He was told to set the profile to 2Mbps speed, which was originally set to 256Kbps, and this was concerned with their local office. I cant recall exactly what they conversed, so sorry abt that. I suggest you make a complaint and ask for a visit from their service guy. That should do it for you.

Just one thing, this plan has a FUP of 105GB, which is a letdown. And the dicks at TATA called me a hundred times (apart from countless emails) warning me to pay up the bill since i had crossed credit limit of Rs. 4700. Turns out my bill was Rs. 92,253 ( Re.1/MB). This is because their data monitor doesnt differentiate between day and night, when night time is free. I had pains explaining to those guys the plan's details (the other way around):rofl:

I asked CC guy about FUP but he seemed to have no clue about it :P

Damn this FUP limits ... Made the complaint ... any idea where to see T&C of broadband plan ? I searched site for 30 mins but want able to find it ! :S ... thanks !

Are you sure ???? I have downloaded 254GB in Jan and 199GB in Feb... still think there is a FUP. Also let me add my plan is a prepaid one so they can kiss goodbye to any kinda extortion they might want get outta me :D

It's OK.. !!! Now first log a call with their CC. Ask them to send a engineer to visit ur place. Then show them the speed issue and they should rectify it for you.

hhmm, i am not able to find the link for verifying the same. But since you ve downloaded that much, i guess its not there on night unlimited(thats the only possible reason):)

yeah, that should solve your problem. I too called up CC, but he too assured me there was no FUP. So you are good to go mate.:)

I went through that link. Its about the 2mbps unlimited plan which costs more than 2k not the time based plan which already has a limit of time on it.
I don't think so they can further limit the NU part of it, but hey its India anything can happen till then happy downloading !!!!

Guess we should stop this discussion here and help abhifusion if he faces any issues later.
 
Thanks guys , since tht link mentions FUP is applicable to all existing n future UL plans , but my plan is Standalone Limited one :ohyeah: , so here there is benefit of doubt :P

Also its close to 24 hours but no sign of Engg who was supposed to come :@ , again called CC for the same and according to him engg visited yesterday , but I was not at home ... total :bshit: ...

Now its weekend and engg isnt gonna come till Monday... m struck with old plan :cursing:

Atlast , got a call from engg and told him my problem over phone , within 5 mins router restarted and i am on 2 mbps now :hap2: ... thank u guys ... :cool2:
 
i use the quick power 360 plan with 360hrs limit during day for 6months and night 9-9 unlimited 2mbps plan......not much of a day user ...i get download speed of 200-225 on torrents at night...the plan cost me Rs560/m
