Already have a Hathway STB already so no problems in the quality. But the downers:
  • The cableguys faces power outage way too often
  • The favourites list doesnt work on my box
  • lot of pixelation during rains making it unwatchable
  • there was no ESPN-Star during the weekend. I don't like missing ManUtd matches:no: Don't wanna risk it for the future

Anyways, was looking at alternates and came to know TataSky+ has an offer going on where the STB+install is 6k instead of 10k.

Is it good to get at this price?

Well it depends on what your usage is like and what you are planning to do with it. I am a TS+ user for last 6 months, and before that 2 years of regular TS. First things first:

TS Advantages:
1) Cheaper on the pocket
2) Picture quality equal if not better (marginally) than TS+
3) Sound quality equal to TS+
4) No electrical outages
5) Rain does effect the signal
6) Channel change much faster than TS+

TS+ Advantages:
1) Lets you record your favorite shows
2) Never miss a F1 race or Football match
3) No need to wait and delay things when a match is coming, simply record
4) Pause TV and than skip the adds

TS+ is a good to have, but not a must have. If you have the moolah, go for it!

If you are getting so much discount, then i suggest that u must go for "tata sky +" considering its a one-time investment...

Few Qs on TS+ here

Once I take TS+ will channel charges (packages) be same as TS ?

Is Dish Size same as TS ?

Whats maximum time I can record on TS+ ? Is it like max of 3 hour movie or it has 40 GB HDD something ?

From what i understand from their CC.

- same channel packages & rates
- uses the same dish
- not sure about the max recording at a stretch but it has a 160gb HDD

I think there is a little difference in dish for TS and TS+ since two co-axial cables from dish are needed to be connected to the settop box of the TS+ unlike TS where single cable is needed.
This single point defered/postponed my decision to buy TS+ last month when the same offer was on for TOI readers on TS+. I din't wan't open wiring for the second cable.

Can anybody throw more light on this point? Is it compulsory to have two wires from dish to SB or we can have one cable to SB and then use a multiplier there and then connect two wires to the SB?

Well got TS+ last weekend.

Regarding the dish; it's a different one with perforations (i guess for the rain water). As a result, I've not had any downtime thou it's been raining everyday this week.

The installations guys insisted on having 2 cables running from the dish instead of splitting it near the box. (they said it would effect the signal... Didn't understand the logic but was in a hurry to get it over with)

well thats probably due to the fact that the LNB has two outputs.
