Chinese electronics major TCL here on Friday unveiled its latest range of infotech (IT) and digital products, including TCL TFT flat-screen LCD monitors and digital cameras. The launch follows the firm’s introduction of TCL televisions in the Indian market early last year.
The company unveiled two models of TFT flat-screen monitors  15 inch ‘S005 L15’ and 17 inch ‘BD 170S’, priced between Rs 9,800 and Rs 12,500.The ‘DV 007’ TCL digital camera  with features like MP3 and MP4 player, USB mass storage, super clear voice recording, web-cam, digital video recording and digital photo shooting  will be available in two colours and is priced at Rs 12,000.
Nick Ma, general manager (IT & digital products), TCL India Holdings Pvt. Ltd, said the company’s focus was to establish its network in the western and southern part of the country during the financial year 2006-07.
In the first quarter of current fiscal, TCL entered Mumbai, Maharashtra and Goa. It already has a presence in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. “On a country-wide basis, we have cornered six per cent share in the television market, although the bulk of this presence remains in south,†Ma said.
TCL will soon introduce four models of commercial desktops, three models of laptops and five models of digital cameras. While currently all TCL products are imported from China, the company is in talks with a TN-based firm to begin assembling digital and IT products in India by 2006-end.
The firm targets to sell 20,000 TFT monitors and 10,000 digital cameras by end of this fiscal, and has appointed DSK Infotech, a subsidiary of the DSK Group, as its sole regional distributor for Maharashtra and Goa (excluding Mumbai).
Umesh Tashildar, CEO, DSK Infotech, said, “We have appointed four sub-distributors for Pune city. Within a year, we wish to establish a network of at least 400 retailers across our region. We hope to sell 4,000 TFT monitors and 3,000 digital cameras in our region in he current financial year.â€
