Forum Feedback TE Downtime and V2 Rollback

Hi,

We are extremely disappointed to announce that we had to rollback most of the changes made for V2 due to unavoidable circumstances. The rollback includes both of our new hi-tech skins, inventory hack, casino and vb-seo among others. Now here's why we were forced to do that...

Recently, we have learned from our hosts that TE is using up more than 50% resources (CPU and memory) of a shared server its currently hosted on. For the resource utilization of all the recently done hacks, TE needs atleast a VPS with 512MB of dedicated memory. As you all know that TE is a non-profit and non-earning community. The whole of TE's income comes from Google Adsense and the entire amount is spent on hosting and maintainance. As such we are not in a position to afford a VPS at this stage and we can't afford a site suspension due to over usage of resorces as well. So, we had to take this drastic step.

We are very sorry to have done this but we were left with no other choice. We promise we'll try and make addition to TE from time to time whenever it is possible and affordable for us. Also, the TE main portal and masti zone are temporary closed. We are working out possible solutions for the same.

After this sad news, let me end this with a good news for all TE members. Just to reassure you that we are committed to this good cause and to keep this lively community spirit alive, we spent the whole of today upgrading our vBulletin forums to version 3.5 as its faster and includes a whole lot of new features for you to discover. We'll be adding more value to TE soon and thats a promise.

why do bad things happen to good guys

dude why cant te generate money for its own betterment u cud always charge commission in market section and use that money for te upgradation , otherwise lemme think out some other biz idea.....
 
All in all TE V2 was a awasome experience... I am more dissapointed in wasted effort you guys had put to put it up there... I am glad TE is back though(V1 or V2 both rock's)... Once again I salute to you guys for putting so much hard work on TE... Hope to have TE V2 back one day... Till then TE V1 rocks...

well no harm done....V2 was gr8...but none the less v1 is also cool...

switch click the quick reply icon on any post (next to quote button) and then the quick reply box becomes active

guys, a bit o' warning would hav been nice - not dat it would make things any different, but still...

that was a real nice preview of wat TE can look like, wid a bit o' money.

doz clicking on the ads help out in any way?

TE goes vBulletin 3.5, wow!! I think thats the right decision. Initially, i was surprised when you guys came up with TE V2 with vB 3.0.8 as vB3.5.0 promises a 100% increase in efficiency as far as moderation and mainteance as well as stupendous ease in applying various hacks is concerned.

Moreover, skin of a forum hardly matters, what really matters is the content. Good content will bring in good people to the forum. So, cheers everybody, nothing is lost. Its time to recharge your batteries and enjoy the all new latest version of TE forums. And the annoucer rightly said, discover the new features. Rest assured it would be a real fun playing with new forum features. Ahem, did you guys ever edited your posted messages. Just do it and be amazed. :tongue:

PS. : I really wonder what could have caused a 50% resources usage. I suspect some hack going wild??
 
The Forums are the most attractive features of TE.
TE is essentially nothing but a online hub of all the Indian & International techies. The Portal, Gallery & other features are nothing but a complement to the forum.
Hence, we are happy with only the bare essential forum.
And for a forum, the skin doesn't matter. Also, v1 [Updated] is nothing short of revolutionary in itself.

I think TE should start a fund generating programme. ;)
 
we r not at all disappointed.. TE is not because of V2 or V1.. its because of the content and the members.. i was sad at TE being offline.. :(..
but the staff..dont get upset for the time spent and work wasted.. we all appreciate you for your sincerity :)
if u want to not waste the work.. we can include one hack at a time.. and can see which is the one which takes large amt of resources.. 'll just remove that.. ;) who needs all..
and m happy my old sweetie is back :D

Too bad, the look of the new site was really good....

oh well.. and I was so happy eng was winning cos I had bet on them...

well, better luck next time.
 
Well i had around 7000 nickels in back and around 750 in my pocket and was thinking of buying myself a custom title... Wasnt able to decide which one... But thats okey...

Or just either way, they could include all these options the way there were meant to be, open for everyone, no need to compete for nickels and prices and bogus stuff.
Many forums they already have open options for custom user titles and all.
