Oh wow
Bangalore is typically so expensive that I assume everything that seems reasonable in Bangalore must be 2x-3x for the rest of India
and even here idli sambhar is cheaper ...seems it is more expensive in Gujrat...good to know wasnt aware of this..

Actually when I think more about it, maybe because it is a "south indian" dish that is why it is cheaper in Bangalore and more expensive in Gujarat
Yup pretty spot on. It's a foreign cuisine here so it's more expensive. The cafe has been there in the dead center of the old city centre since 1960s. When my dad used to frequent the place, it was like 30-40 per plate, now it has slowly settled on the 70 cost from a few years which is really cheap considering the locality and the service and hygiene they provide. You still can get it cheaper but you trade hygiene and good ambience with filthy and shady places.

All the new places that match this quality are around the 110-130 per plate mark in terms of idli/vadai sambhar.

Also the hospitality is unreal here, they are so warm and friendly in nature. Banging coffee as well. Feels like a visit to older times with the wooden interior and polite folks.
