And in windows 7, I have to enter the username and password everytime to login. I dont face this problem in Windows XP. And previously also I was not facing this problem, it just started after this downtime.

^ Thats not coz of server. Its working fine for me and for many of us am sure. Server is slow but not facing that username password thing. You are facing it coz most probably its some changes in your browser settings which you/someone did (unknowingly). Try to use diff browser and save your password in the Browser as well as the tick on the forum to remember your password.
