With all the recent site restructuring and all, I was just browsing some of the new sections and came across an old thread with Katmandude.
The oldies here might recognise the name from the late 2000's. Katmandude or KMD as he was popularly referred to was a pretty established and trusted dealer and I think even I bought one or two inexpensive items from him. People used to buy quite big ticket items also. I think he was most famous for getting stuff from US sites to India, which was a coveted service at the time.
But everything fell apart in around 2010 I think? He (she?) started running into problems with his US agents and things got backlogged and its rumoured he ran away with a lot of money. While he did initially post saying that orders are stuck and that he is not accepting new orders until the backlog is cleared at least, at some point he stopped updating and then just disappeared. Surprising for a very trusted dealer at the time.
Anyway, this is all from piecing together from his and other people's posts from around the time.
So those who were there for the saga, anyone know what actually happened? I believe some people knew him personally. Did he actually scam people and run off with the money? Is there some other story that we're not aware of?
