Any recommendations ? ... I am planning to add an 9600 Gt or similar card soon to this config .., also can the RAM be oc'd to run at > 800 Mhz(Ye i am a nub)

Just a thought for High end models can we consider following things
1) Chipset Coolers
2) Power backup devices

Also in ultra high end gaming what is your opinion on R700 in crossfire ?
 
I have a small question.. Does it make any difference if i get the Palit 8600GT 512MB GDDR3 or the XFX 8600GT 512MB GDDR3? Palit wasn't available at CE.. Thx!
 
^ get whichever is cheaper , palit will be better as XFX warranty is through rashi which sucks according to people .
 
Honestly, if I could spend 65k on a gaming rig, pretty sure it will have a 4870 in it. I don't understand why it is necessary to have more than the stock cooling for an under 40k config. Even if you feel the need to overclock, you can go in for something later, probably use the extra money on a bigger monitor or better gfx.

Also, I'd like to put in a thumbs down for the Audioengine A2, which seems to be getting loads of positive recommendations around here.

Problems I faced;

- ridiculously flimsy(my friend had to send it for RMA cos it started getting a crackling sound about 3 weeks after purchase)

- get scratched extremely easily(considering it is supposed to be a somewhat portable solution). Also gathers a lot of dust on the pads in the bottom.

- no headphone jack(which is a problem for me as I can listen to the speakers all the time and un/plugging at the back makes that fzzt sound)

- need proper stands or at least a sturdy table and proper placement or the sound gets reflected, the speakers themselves start vibrating. Cannot be wall mounted.

They do sound good though :D, but if you don't consider the portability then getting a 2.1 at half the price would suffice for typical users, and this would be really underpowered for a system that has a 50 inch plasma etc. I'd have thought that a surround setup and blu-ray would be definitely needed in a HT setup.

Get a 9600gt for about 5.8k. That would be significantly better than any other cards in a slightly lower price range. Dunno about the 4670 etc though.

Get the 4670 currently its the best mid range card. :)
 
What would be the cost of ultra high end rig without these
