Team Fortress 2 is addressing what is considered a serious issue in the economy of Team Fortress 2 (TF2) - Idling. For the unknown, idling is done by some TF2 players who want to get item drops even when they are not playing, by staying active on Team Fortress 2 idling servers, but now it seems that has been made redundant. This was considered toxic by Valve as it made the TF2 economy unstable.
Previously, the 'idlers' could just run their game and leave it there for hours to find many items later for their disposal when they returned to their computers - no more, as Valve has now removed that feature of the game.
As it was posted on the Team Fortress 2 official blog - now if you go idle (as in not moving in game) - the random item drops will pause, and you will not receive any more item drops, like you previously did.
But now if you're wondering if Valve or Steam can still ban if if you idle, they have replied that - "No, you will not be banned for just idling. You may be banned if you use external programs to circumvent idle detection."
Valve has ensured the regular players of TF2 which don't idle, that this new addition to the game shall not affect them what-so-ever.
The new update is out now, and you can now once again start playing the fantastic free to play game.
