TeamViewer - Need to block software update but allow other PCs to communicate - How ?

I have been having this doubt for a long time. Hope someone will help me out...

I am having BDTS (bitdefender total security). In teamviewer i would like to block the autoupdate feature (via a firewall) but at the same time i need to allow other PCs to access my PC and vice versa.

There is actually no auto update in teamviewer, but assume that if there is an auto-update feature which downloads the update automatically without querying the user, then how will i block it ?. At the same time the communication between my PC and others PC should't be affected.

How do i do this (in other softwares also) ?. After installing teamviewer, BDTS asks permission for some IP address like 127.xxx.xxx.xxx and some ports. I always allow these web dependent softwares like skype, yahoo messenger, etc, etc.

But how do i distinguish whether BDTS is asking to allow access for software update or allow the communication with other PCs ?

Hope i made it clear, but i dont know a simpler way of asking this question...

Set Teamviewer to LAN only. So it will only work within your WiFi DHCP assigned IPs. It will never go outside onto the www.

By communication, i meant via INTERNET and NOT via WIFI mate.

In simple terms i have to block teamviewer auto update and also to allow my PC to connect to other PC and vice versa via INTERNET..

TV will ask for auto update when it seeks an update on their servers. I doubt you can prevent it. Why you want to disable it anyways.

TV is free for personal use right ?

Excuse me. I DL'ed the version from here. I installed it, and it has an option for license activation but I do not need that. When I launch the executable it shows "free version". What is non-genuine in that..?

It gives me all the functionality I want:

1. Connect over LAN.

2. Connect over www.

3. Both (1) and (2).

4. View shared computers on the web profile which TV helps you set up.

Totally agreed. :cool2:

Its absolutely free for personal use with most of the features of premium user.

But if you still wanted to use that (particular) version, then no problem.

Start TeamViewer-->Go to "Extras"-->"Options"-->"Advanced"-->"Show Advanced options"

There set "Check for new version" to "Never" from "Weekly".
And its all done.

Guys, but what is the difference between the enterprise version and the free version ?. I was under the impression that for unattended setup (fixed password), i need an enterprise version and i am using it. Sorry guys...

Actually my issue is not that. I disabled the update as you pointed out. But sometimes bitdefender is blocking TV requests to my computer from other computers. How do i unblock it ?. I just allowed the executables related to TV when i am asked. But inspite of this, it blocks and TV reports that BD is blocking teamviewer. So this is one question...

For instance, take some other software like TV. Assume that it has no option to disable the auto update and at the same time it has to communicate with other PCs via internet. In this case how do I disable the auto update via FIREWALL in BD or any Antivirus ?. Do i have to block any IP address/ports related to software update to achieve this ? This is the other one...

Add the TV exe, and the TV installation folder as an exception to your virus client.

You can do unattended PW on free version. I am.

tv is already in the exception list only. But inspite of this i am getting that error. So i uninstalled tv and reinstalled the free version. Still with same state...

Any ideas ?

How to unblock TV from bitdefender TS for accessing PCs via internet ?. Though it initially works properly after permitting the application under TV, after some time it blocks TV from accessing other PCs and vice versa via internet. TV states that it will work in LAN only mode.... Is Bitdefender TS 2010 not suitable for TV ?

Remove Bitdefender then. I am using it fine with AVG on 3x systems.
