TeamViewer: Unable to connect to remote computer inspite of it showing Online

My laptop in Pune remains on full time and this weekend I am here in Mumbai. Yesterday the remote computer was behaving very sluggish when I was accessing through team viewer and I know it was not connection issue or anything but the computer was actually sort of using 100% CPU and such.
So I remotely restarted the laptop sitting here and expected that the computer should show online again in few minutes which it did. I have done this before so I know it works.
But now even after this, when the computer is showing online I am unable to connect to it. I tried using another computer here, team viewer app in my android table and iOS phone as well.
Using the laptop it just shows connecting for couple of minutes but then nothing happens. Through iOS app it either does not connect or gives protocol negotiation failed or some error.
Now I know I cannot do much siting here and it will probably be resolved only when I am physically present there and will restart the laptop again and see.
But is there anything I can do now ? Why is It not connecting even when it shows online.

Is laptop password protected? Although TeamViewer service does load before the login as well just like native RDP.
Could be connection issue with team viewer server, try to ping the laptop if it is on static ip. That way at least proper connectivity can be verified.

No static ip and computer is not password protected. Has windows xp. I have actually tried this before to simulate such a scenario where I remotely restart a machine and expect it to come online again after restart. It did work then and now for some reason the machine is showing offline.
So I guess either the computer has hanged or shut down or got BSOD or something.

I know internet is not down at my Pune home since I can see my iPad online on find my iPhone which is there and wifi is on, on the ipad.

Basically I will get to know only Tuesday night when I reach my home then.

In my peticular case the solution was a messed up windows update. I resolved by going to c:\windows\softwaredistribution\datastore and deleting all the files. This fixed my update issue and my Teamviewer protocol negotiation failed error.
