He would have got away with it if he hadn’t
A TEENAGER was being considered an innocent victim by coppers investigating the car crash death of his friend, until they happened to read his bog.
Blake Ranking, 18, penned "I did it" on his blurty.com journal three days after the October 2004 crash that caused a friend's death and left another seriously injured. Up until then he had steadfastly said he couldn’t remember anything about the crash.
Blake was sitting in the back seat as he and his friends Jason Coker and Nicole Robinette left a party.
He pulled the steering wheel as a prank, causing the car to somersault off the road. His blood alcohol content after the crash measured 0.185, more than double the legal limit.
Robinette, who was driving, had no traces of drugs or alcohol in her system, was seriously injured. Coker lay in a coma at Orlando Regional Medical Center and later died.
In his bog Ranking said he did it and pondered how he could be fine when everyone else was so messed up. He later deleted the words from the blog saying that he repeated what Robinette had told him and he believed her.
The police were considering using the bog as evidence against Robinette, but he decided to plead guilty to the manslaughter charge and the trail never happened.
