Thanks to many of you'll, Ive now got my PC setup ... E6400, MSI 965P Neo, 7300GT, 1x1GB 667 DDR2, LG DVD R/W, WD 160GB Sata and a decent case :)

I started of by installing Vista RC1, but have now gone back to the tried and tested XP Pro ... yeah, lack of sufficient drivers was causing distress :(

Anyways, now that I'm back on track, I'd like to know a couple of things.

1) Every time I start my PC and log on, I get the following message ->
SLI.jpg
. Can someone explain to why that happens .... and more, what have I messed up that causes that!

2) On 3 occassions, my PC just restarted ... no its nots that virus that was prevalent a couple of years back .... and hence I was wondering if it had anything tho do with some hardware heating up. What software do you'll use to monitor temperatures? Do I have to keep monitoring temperatures or once I have it stable, I can ignore monitoring. ... and yeah, one more thing ... what are the standard expected temperatures for CPU, GP and HDD?

Thanks & Cheers!

1. You can ignore that message. its pretty normal with the nVidia drivers. Its just indicating that since you have only one GPU, SLI is not enabled.

2. The first thing you should check is RAM. use some tool like Memtest to check your RAM throughly. As for hardware monitoring, you can use PC Wizzard 2006, Everest, Core Temp, Speed Fan etc. The temperatures of your hardware depend on ambient temperatures too. But in general for c2d, the processor load temp should not go above 55 deg. HDD should ideally stay below 45 deg. I have no idea about 7300GT temperatures.

Thanks broar94, that certainly fixed it :) ... yeah, that site says that the issue should not be there in newer drivers! ... thanks for that!

Sorry for not writing in earlier, but I was taking a look at the various softwares ... and came up with the following:
PCWizard2006.jpg
Wonder if those are ok ... the ambient temperature here is about 10 deg. Centigrade.

Also, lord_nemesis, you asked me to check my RAM. What am I to look out for?

Thanks again ...
Cheers

If you have any linux boot cd, start your pc with that and select memtest. It will check your ram and display errors if your ram has any problems.
