I have a desktop computer,wiz.
MSI P45 Neo-F,2x2GB Transcend(800 Mhz),Sapphire HD 4850 512 MB,WDC 640GB Green power,Corsair VX 450W,NZXT Apollo Chassis and Dell US 2208WFP
bought on 2nd October,2008.Backup-powered by APC 650 VA

I had hell lota viruses and bugs since few days(coz of not updating AVG free for 15-20)on XP SP3 based system.
And some weird things happened 2-3 days back;
1.When I used to insert the ethernet cable.(after booting into Windows) the monitor would go blank(with monitor going into Power Saver mode-coz of no input) almost instantly,,while the CPU would be still running(and not restarting)

2.then, The Next day
I got A BLUE SCREEN error.
saying that "my ati graphics driver(dnt remember the filename and other details exactly)has some problem or there's a problem with HArdware"
And bottom most line was:
"PHYSICAL MEMORY DUMP ERROR"

so,,i thought enuf of this MESS;
and formatted the primary(OS) partition and installed Vista Home Premium succesfully
and the screen showed system specs-4GB RAM,etc..after succesfully booting into Vista!
Didnt install any drivers, after that, switched it off.

was happy,,switched it off!!!

After restarting half an hour ago,,,there was no input to monitor(blank)
and CPU was continously restarting!
I reconected both ends of DVI cable(display)
AND
tried to take out RAM for cleaning(but the lower white Holder for the Ram was being obstructed by the GPU,,so didnt take out the ram succesfully)

and dont know,,,sumhow...
restart loop stopped ..but still system was not booting in(coz I could switch off the CPU by soft press and not 20 seconds long press,,needed when system has logged into Windows)
While the display was still dead allthroughout>>>>

And all this on 31st eve's >>>Got pissed off,,,slept at 11.30pm!!NO NEW YEAR WISHES:no:

and then nxt day,,
sumhow out of magic,,the system booted into Vista succesfuly,,and display to the monitor was there(Only to find that recognised memory was just 2GB:ashamed: :ashamed: :ashamed:

so i called one of my "Hardware FRIEND" to look...
he said that top white notch of 2nd RAM stick is loose...
so he fixed that..
and again the VISCIOUS RESTART LOOP(display sitting DEAD)
and then...
we tried all the permutations,
for single RAM Stick,
and both raM sTICKS also...
BUT THIS RECYCLING LOOPS didnt stop(monitor always sitting with no display)
and then I SAID myself...HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

P.S.-Iam totally screwed up now,,so would be unscrewing both the GPU,,and the RAMs again and TRY MY LUCK!!!
But,

GUYS PLEASE THINK AND HELP OUT>>>WHAT COULD BE THE POSSIBLE REASON????

dude dont be lazy!!

check each ram stick one by one...no matter how much work it demands!!!
Try in safe mode ;Try with min hardware attached , remove all sorts of oc !
Etc etc.

i said i have already tried all combinations for ram sticks with just one stick,,and also both sticks in the slots available/....
And DUDE,,it seems you havent got my point...
HOW CAN I SAFE MODE???no display on the monitor/..do u understand dat...
n no OC..
just the GPU,HDD,DVD-RW...no input units,,had disconnected monitor,,,
and tried all ram combinations possible for slot 1 and 2 of my mobo...will look 3 and 4 too!!!

:P..well

i written that by habit!!! coz i usually do that when such things happens to my system, almost every time that happens i always try to boot the system and first goto safe mode........

but since ur system is not booting ...it is rebooting constantly...that means some thing hardware related no software involved....

usually OVERCLOCK\improper BIOS setting\hardware config -OR- RAM -OR- over heating cpu -OR- bad\loose connections -OR- bad psu -OR- ..............-OR- RMA TIME!!!

as simple as that!!

Take out BIOS battery to reset BIOS ... maybe that will flush the BIOS and eliminate your problem ...

Can you tell us more about the problem ? Remove both RAMs and check if you hear some beeps. Then insert a RAM and check if you hear any sounds.

Remove any HDD / CD ROM connectors and see if you get the BIOS display. Just have the bare minimum connected - RAM, CPU, GPU and SMPS. See if you get to BIOS screen.

If not, you have a hardware problem with the MOBO / RAM, most possibly the MOBO

well from reading your tread it seems that the ram and the gpu obstruct each other , could you post a pic of both of them in side by side ?

seems like when u fit ur ram in , ur gpu gets loose

when u fit ur gpu , ur ram gets loose

thats the only logical reason i can say from jus reading your thread and not being there , if possible check for obstructions first , then start ur setup with the basic stuff , if you have onboard video ,use that to just test ur setup , been in many situations like yours and must i say its not a pretty sight.

all the best!!

i didnt overclock,,
no improper bios setting just installed vista, after so many bugs n viruses in XP SP3,as said earlier
No overheating as such,,,compared to my monstrous sessions of day-night long gaming,,,no Round the clock Downloading,,and all such pains which i would make it bear ,,during these 5 days,,and was switched off for one month before dat..coz of HOLIDAYS
bad PSU..cant say ,,my PSU is the most reliable one in market for such Config,,
And regarding RMA time(atleast first I need to know what has failed??)

ok i will check with both RAMS removed>.but i had tried single stick also,,and if any of the two would have been faulty,it should give some beep.
BTW i dont get beeps,,as in the mono internal cpu speaker single beep ...even when the comp was fine,,like it's in other comps
might be that i wouldnt have connected power for that small interanal speaker..but it would be difficult considering the reptilian cables of SMPS!!!
and what label should i look for,,to find that speaker?

all the best!!

they too dont obstruct as such.perse..but there's a thin line!
i didnt had the courage to open the lower ram notch..
but my hardware friend would do it,,and sometimes it would mean bit bend for the GPU..
No onboard video for "P" chipsets..i suppose it's only those intel chipsets with prefix "G" have that!

ur best bet is to take ur box to local hardware shop:bleh: .....if not done already!!
they will check with working components ,that will help u find broken part....

oh btw...do u keep ur system open..there may be a chance that some insect or mouse had done dirty work on it's circuitery ..that may b shorting the mobo...i suffer similar case when i kept system off but box was open, my 66000gt dies just bcoz a mouse that had sh!t on it..lol!!

make sure mobo ,gpu ,ram is completely dust free!!:bleh:

no it's always closed..and sits in a pristine manner on a table...so no chance of mouse shittin:bleh:
though just 3 months old,,but will check for the dust though!!!

First of all...I CHECKED both of RAM sticks individually on my friend's computer,,both were working!

Then

i removed power supply for DVD drive,HDD

removed the GPU-CLEANED it's FAn,,cleaned the LED fan on the Chassis

cleaned the ram(though there was apparently no dust)

and then installed RAM..and GPU,and checked...the monitor waked up..and system showed the bios..

then I connected all things..and it's all working

so,

THE BEAST IS BACK WITH A BANG,,now

THANK YOU GUYS ,,FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND ADVISES
