Cooler "Master"
Galvanizer
Okay now I have a query out here fellow TEians, I want to replace my Cooler Master Hyper 212+ [2 years old expect it in the Market section] for the following RIG --

AMD Phenom IIx4 965

ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO

3 x 2GB G.Skill RIPJAWS 1600MHz

AMD HD 5770

Cooler Master Storm Scout

Cooler Master Real Power Pro 460W

My aim is to get the CPU across the 4.0GHz barrier, but for standard day-to-day tasks I'll have a more modest ~3.6GHz -- 3.7GHz clock.

Thermal Paste to be used with the HSF is either of these two --

1) Tuniq TX-2 OR

2) Arctic Silver 5

Can you please suggest a good cooler .I have a poll going on this between two coolers I am aware of please pour in alternate options too, with purchase options in Bangalore PC market.

Thanks In Advance.

* rubs eyes *

i cant believe it. you sire asking for advice

j/k

on a more serious note i guess tx-2 is a better match

also it has no curing time so you should be able to hit 4.0 right away
<

regarding the cooler, why not look around the market

have a look at this thread

hope i helped out sire...and do keep us posted

^^ #moksh4u2 thanks for the advice on the thermal paste, I remember you from Bombay you were recommending Shin-Etsu TIM but I can't acquire that as of now.

As for cooler, I would like if you will put in a vote for either the Cooler Master EVO OR the Thermalright Cogage TRUE Spirit OR put in another option under ~2500/-.

Thanks.

#ALPHA17

yes sire i was recommending shin etsu even now but since you specifically want either of the two above, i dint mention it
<

as far as the cooler goes ill drop in a vote
<
or come up with something...gimme a while and let me research the options

your welcome sire

i say go with the cogage as it has the ability to accommodate larger 140mm fans which will give you the ability to decide between pure performance or noise/performance
<

Considering the fact that I have no intention of mounting a 140mm because of pricing issues mainly and I'll just use the standard fan bundled with the HSF which one will perform better?

I would still say go with the cogage. i did a bit of goog-ling but nothing comparing the two directly. but generally the cogage looks better
<

Cogage is an awesome cooler and any day better than 212. I say this from experience of installing on friends i7 920 system , handles @ 4ghz 1.3v so I know that cooler has a lot of potential .... not sure 212 can do the same. Its barely ~5* behind much more expensive alternatives like d14 and venX. I will be getting one myself for my 920 when i can spare some funds for hobbies
<
get it you will love it.

#Zloyd, how easy was it setting up the Cogage TRUE Spirit. Easy, moderate OR an exercise in patience and screw manipulation. And I'm not looking for record shattering cooling, I want a cooler that is easy to set-up and performs moderately well [the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ does that, but has some niggles].

#buddingwhizkid thanks for the information but I want to know its availability too, the Cogage is available at PrimeABGB and might be in Bangalore too. And I'm a little inflexible on the budget [need to buy thermal paste too].

#cyberwarfare thanks for the help buddy will see what is available in Bangalore and pricing and then take the plunge.

Okay fellows there is a poll up top in this thread, please vote OR if you do not like the options enlighten me on other options [below ~2500/- please].

Thanks everyone still ~3 -- 4 days before I purchase anything, so keeping pouring in your thoughts, links will be helpful too. Cheers!!

Prime had Tuniq tower a few days back . ask them if they have it in stock still . if not tell them you need 2 (ill take 1 too)

As far as budget . It comes with Tuniq TX-2 . no worries there huh ?
<

If you find it buy it eyes closed .

The only thing stopping me from buying it , is that my case is not 8 inches wide .

#cyberwarfare, #BIKeINSTEIN, #buddingwhizkid thanks for your helps friends but I havve shelved plans for purchasing a CPU cooler, got a Logitech G 300 for replacing my ageing Razer Salmosa. So budget for cooler is sparse.

Will bump this thread at some other date, till then cheers!!

^^ Sire(s) I'm back in Bangalore and no permanent internet connection here so that is why I come on sporadic bursts of posts.

Inconvenience caused is regretted.

Yep #cyberwarfare same here will do a piece on which ever product I get from now on. Cheers!!

I am happy with the stock AMD HSF just that it gets very, very, very noisy on load [unlike the stock Intel HSF it does its job (commendable albiet at the cost of noise) which does nothing].

Rest it is fine + once I return to Delhi I'll have an address where I will not mind buying online, so most probable I'll go for the Thermalright Cogage TRUE Spirit that is available at PrimeABGB.

Once again thanks for the offer #BIKeINSTEIN. Cheers!!
