hey guys
i am planning to get a new motherboard however the problem is that all the decent priced boards have just one x16 slot and one x4 slot

now i intend to sli my 460 somewhere down the line but i feel my second card will be losing out due to lane limitations

can you guys suggest how much will i lose if i go ahead with a x16 and x4 combo or should i shell out 3000 bucks more on a x8 by x8 combo board

thanks

PCI-E x4 slot will not support normal PCI-E 16x graphics cards and definitely SLI will not be supported.
You need to go for motherboards with two x16 slots and they may work in x8-x8 mode when in SLI.

Make sure that the motherboard's website specifies SLI-capable.

thanks for the quick reply

i just found out the board i was looking forward to supports only crossfirex

sli seems to be restricted only to high end boards with x8-x8 support

can you suggest a good board that supports sli and does not cost a bomb

^^

Most SLi ready boards are more expensive than their CrossFireX supporting counterparts, bruv what configuration do you pan to get.
