i bought the connectors from SP Road [bangalore] and the cables are 16 gauge pure copper speaker cables.

Finally after 2 months, free from modem lease fees and home wifi fees (rip off at $13 per month on TWC internet).
Got the zoom DOCSIS 3.0 modem and TPLink router. Total cost around $90. I had initially got Motorola modem but it had issues (probably power adapter was fault but the issue is known and plagues many same modem Motorola modems).
