The "Everyday" show-off thread !

Over the last few days I wasn't well, down with severe Pharyngitis and fever. I took time out of work and decided to take a small break. What helped me were antibiotics, lots of rest, gaming and doing a little bit of shopping. A little self pampering if you will...

Watches... The Seiko was a personal favorite so bought it again, the others are just for fun!! I already own my grail watch so now I just buy whatever catches my fancy. They don't necessarily have to be expensive, quite the contrary. If I like it, I get it... that simple.

Casio A158WA-1DF (D011) - This vintage piece from Casio was always a favorite of mine but watching Season 3 of Narcos recently and spotting it on Michael Stahl-David's wrists made me want to get one. Bought it, removed the steel bracelet and since I'm a big NATO guy put it on a 18mm black & white strap. It's such a classic, so very circa 90's!

Seiko SRP311 "Strato Monster" - I had bought this a couple of years back but sadly while traveling abroad I lost the watch. I knew I would pick one up in the future since I completely loved it's Halloween decadent dial and so now seemed like a good time to get one since I was in a watch buying mood!

Never thought of combining red-handed Janata with a red Nato.
I will also try it :)

Yup, give it a try. The colors really pop!

It's been harder and harder to find NATO straps here in India. There was a seller "Durashop"on eBay India but he stopped selling them quite a while ago. He had good quality NATO's on sale. Since then I could only find one seller on eBay India presently who deals in NATO straps but sadly his stuff isn't very good as regards to the quality.

True, even I find it difficult getting good quality nato straps. have to search aliexpress now.

OMG. If this was some pre Diwali shopping or self pampering, wondering what's in store for actual Diwali spend!

Where do you live btw.. With access to the beach ( a clean beach that too) for runs?

Also post pics of your car n stuff.. @Chaos & myself are all car buffs here. Be warned though.. Chaos's list of mods and knowledge will bleed your bank faster than your car can go [emoji14]

Wow that is some seriously awesome hardware! What are you planning to do with it? Just for Plex, this is serious overkill. Plex server runs fine on my lowly G4560 with 8gigs of ram.

Yes. Just Plex. If you meant, your hardware runs Plex software and lets you play the files without any issues, I agree. I was using a i3 NUC with 8GB. I know few people running it off of RPi3's. It was "fine" for me when I was mainly into normal 1080p.

When I started moving into higher bit rate files, started getting frame drops and player crash or stuck when I scrub ahead. Things went really bad when I moved into 4K files into a 1080p client.

Finally I moved into my current 4K HDR TV and all hell broke loose. 4K files were constantly making the player crash. I occasionally faced 1080p file issues as well. Till 720p and 1080p lower bit rate files worked just fine.

And their new transcoder design is "nice". crashing left, right and center when I scrub ahead. But I think it is more software than hardware.

Again, lots of people have Plex on low end hardware and runs just fine. Just for my use case it does not. And as per Plex forums and Plex sub, I am not alone. Passmark score is what Plex needs. Higher the score, better the performance.

Not looking for an argument or debate here my friend. All what I said is up in google. I just reached a point where I cannot take issues. Netlfix is pulling lot of my favorite shows away, so time for me to find an alternative is near.

Having said that, I would agree with you that this is a overkill. But that was the intent. I want Plex to be happy. Have all the resource it needs.

Note: Install plexpy and start looking at the stats. Or maybe not. If it works for you, let it be. Knowing was the worst part for me.

4k streaming on the fly with Plex is just really iffy. I don't even bother with that as it is a waste of time. It is just bad design choices on the software side.

I don't have a 4k HDR tv yet but am planning to get one rather soon (an LG B7 or C7). Maybe I'll hit the same issues you talk about.

I got a Sony 65 X900 now. But on the lookout for a C7 this BF. If under 2k, I may bite. I should have gone with a cheaper 4K TV in the first place.

If the content is choppy, you would notice with these units. Atleast I do. Or maybe I am imagining things. But then again, it means it happens for me.

Well, its been a fun few weeks, purchased the ryzen 1700, then coffee lake launched, simply could get my hands on the I7 processors, eventually gave up and got the b350 mobo. It's doing 3.7 ghz with 2933mh on the ram without breaking a sweat. 38-40c on idle and 48c max is what I have seen while benching. Playing games it touches about 46c

A platform upgrade after 5 odd years, gaming just seems a tad smoother, noticed fps gain in overwatch over the legendary 2500k.

Here are some pics.
