This will help us in many ways, weed out outdated information, and prevent bumping a decade old threads, etc.

I'd argue that an old thread doesn't necessarily mean redundant . Instead, the thread creator should be able to lock it or there should be a request feature if it doesn't exist already.

I agree, OP should be able to lock the post. I see many newcomers posting in old threads that have already been resolved, just to increase post count.

Yes. That and ability to modify the original post.

Not auto lock, but post creator should have option to lock the thread once the task is completed.
