Finally PC gamers get to play The Force Unleashed. However I am a bit disappointed by the PC port. The graphics are a tonne better than the console versions, but the only adjustable graphics setting is the resolution. No other customizable graphics setting at all from what I could see. The game is also locked to 30FPS.

Kind of a pity considering that it seems to put barely any strain on the GPU although it is CPU intensive. The temperature on my 4850's does not even rise more than 5 deg when the game is running. Its like I am playing a 5 year old game. I was hoping for a port that can have graphics to match the physics in this game.

Btw, this game does set a new standard in PC game storage requirements. This game requires a whooping 25GB Hard disk real estate for installing the game out of the box.

^^ Did not buy it yet. Its not available on eBay.in either. Picked it the ahem way for now. :P

I already have the PS3 version of Force Unleashed, so wanted to see if its worth buying the PC version. With GTA4, it was a no brainier and I bought the PC version even though I already have the PS3 version. But I am not sure about this one. I may still buy it if it sells for 999/- or less just for the sake of the additional DLC that's bundled in the Sith edition.

^^ Graphics are much more crisp than the console versions (albeit you don't have options to make it any better than it already is) and the cut scenes seem to have been redone from what I have on the PS3. Other than that the main game is the same as the console version. Of course you have the DLC as well.

In my opinion, the developer has refrained from putting any serious effort on the PC version other than for porting it to the platform. There was a lot of potential for improving the graphics in the PC version.

no wonder lot of people running the game on thier hig spec pc's were complaining about the frame rates anyways any idea how well it will perform on a e6600 and a 8800gt??

^its gonna run awesome ... Im using E6400 @ 3Ghz and 8800GTS 320mb and it runs fine on 1280x1024 ... no lag no nothing :D

As I mentioned, it doesn't require a lot of GPU power. E6600 + 8800GT should be able to cut it fine. The is heavy on physics using Havok. So CPU Muscle is mostly all it needs.

i m playin this game at 1680*1050 resolution on 8800gt its runnin fine...

but game has very bad graphics and poor gameplay...

also no graphic setting options at all...

Lol m done with the game posted video gameplay on screenshots thread also posted screenies.

The game canbe played alone for the force powers....graphics are great but not outstanding. game play is good and story line will keep u busy:)

Initial impressions :

The goods:

Good visuals and gameplay so far....played only 10mins screenies of same:P

Detailed and interactive environment.

Darth Vader is invinsible.....has force choke, force push pull powers etc :D

the bads :

Game is friggin 14.5gb and takes 25gb hdd space when installed.:(

no video options to set details etc, gameplay is crapped at 30fps constant. Only the resolution canbe changed.

This game has got a very bad review from gamespot 5.0, mainly due to unstable frame rate and other performance issues, graphically the game does not shine much also, how's the story its said to be good though.

Will prefer to go with Dragon Age Origins though, much more fleshed out in all respects.

^^ Well Force Unleashed is not exactly an RPG even if it has a bit of character development, Dragon Age s a proper RPG, so you cannot really compare the two. Force Unleashed is a decent game alright, but it would have done a lot better had the developers focused on PC as the primary platform. Instead they chose consoles which did not give an full star wars experience visually and the decision to do a quick port to PC did not work out well.

how is the control - can it be enjoyable with mouse +keyboard or gamepad required ??

how is the game in compare to jedi academy 1 & 2 - i love these games & graphics was superb during those days

game certainly deserves more than 7. They have rated it 5 only coz theres no much improvement over console version except the DLC content. Those who dont own the console version shall really enjoy the game. I completed the whole in 3 days. Didnt get bored at all.

Haven't tried the game with Keyboard + Mouse.

As for comparison with Jedi Knight 2 and Jedi Knight 3 - Jedi Academy, they were some of the best Star Wars games on PC. Force Unleashed is good, but it doesn't come any where close to the kind of legend Jedi Knight series was on PC was in its days. Jedi Knight 2 and Jedi Academy were more about Light Saber combat than about Force powers. Although there were other weapons no one ever used them. The game also had Multi Player and bot matches around Light Saber combat.

Force Unleashed is a more about using Force powers than about Light Saber combat. You can do a lot of stuff using Force powers. You don't ever get to break down wooden obstacles, bend a foot thick metal doors or bring down a star destroyer with force powers in any of the Jedi Knight games.

That said, I would still rate Jedi Knight games above Force Unleashed any day.

thanks..I enjoyed those lightsbar fight -challenging and fun -still remember throwing the lightbar at en enemy and the camera zooms in with it..sweet memories

--lets see how enjoyable the force power in compare to light bar.for me the major attraction of the game is -playing as darth vader- it will be more fun if Anakin Skywalker the protagonist of the game and gradually become Darth Vader at last combining star wars ep3 and original trilogy story-really a missed opportunity for lucas art
