yeah .... as the title says, go on and abuse the people we elected to power as you wish. Hopes the mods grant us permission to abuse as we like on sympathy grounds :P

I assume most of you are against this reservation.....

Do post comments, abuses, whatever you want....

In 60 yrs of reservations, these SC/STs and OBCs have not gone anywhere.... why will they do so now??

And according to news rteports, 60% of the students kicked out of IITs for below par performance are from these OBCs.

When will they realise that hard work and brains are needed?? Not reservations.
 
The "caste" based reservation system should be thrown into the dustbin, and a new one based on economic condition should be introduced. in whatever areas they wanna have reservation.

As far as IITs/IIMs are concerned, i dunno if most of them work here or abroad?
 
elections r coming so is the reservation card.......i guess action speaks louder than word.......the heads of this institution should resign(i.e narayan murti and all)..............

btw acc to star news..........arjun singh was being made to b removed frm mp to rajypal post..............so inorder to save his post........he did this trick.........
i guess this politicians really needed rdb treatment

note::jus came to know........whtever debate we do...this resolution will b passed...becoz in parliament no one will oppose it...else they have to face vote bank opposition frm reservation
 
Nikhil, our country is a Socialist, Welfare state. This is what differentiates us from a government such as USA's. Socialist, by definition, means that India's primary concern is its people. So it has to provide a prop as support for those who require it.

In 60 yrs of reservations, these SC/STs and OBCs have not gone anywhere.... why will they do so now??

On what basis do you say that? how do you define going anywhere? Does everyone have to become a Vijay Mallya, or an Anil Ambani to go somewhere? Is not becoming educated and literate (our country's chief concern) 'going somewhere' too?
 
I hope this incident rather gives a chance to improve the primary edn system in India. Amartya Sen so many times tells to improve the primary education system.

As for the caste based, I would rather prefer based on economic capability and suggest for subsidies or low interest rate loans for them.
 
@tracer : Bro, Granted that this is all being done for the "welfare" of the people, but arent forward castes citizens of this nation??I mean arent the current reservations enough? Why do they have to politicise IITs and IIMs and further deprive the Deserving and Meritorious Forward/Other castes (Especially boys) of their right??

There are hardly 5% seats available for other/forward caste boys in A.P for Engineering, the remaining 95% being reserved.
 
honestly i always hated this system.

Noone should be granted or denied admission based on caste. Hell i fall under so called OBC, i never used it to get admission in my colleges bcoz i didnt need that.

And i still dont understand why our subcaste is under OBC :P

When it comes to education, Brains > caste for me.

If you wana really help then arrage scholerships for finantially backword people and have reservations ( in form of scholerships ) for those people who really need it.

Noone in my family ever needed to use OBC card to get anywhere, and i am proud of that. Your caste does not decide if you need reservation in education system. If say some higher caste student from mumbai is rejected admission bcoz another student from mumbai only got the admission only because he is SC/ST/OBC then its unfair justice. I really dont like this.

I have seen this happen, both people have had same resources to get knowledge.

All things that these reservation does is damage social integrity rather than helping it.

My sis is going to write her IIT exam tomorrow......heard some where that its going to be 49% reservation.Is it true?
 
The bill han't been passed as yet, and I hope and wish it doesn't...Having expressed my POV though, i must also say that sweeping generalizations like this are best avoided on our forum...

Well, ok.... That I guess was too general... but I am soooo fukcing pissed man....

We really need to do a RDB and I have since lost all my respect for Manmohan. Now, I know he os not the govt itself and he is obliged by his capacity as PM to support the bill the whole Parliament passes... but still could nt have opened his mouth and tpold something??

This is absolutely disgusting. My true thoughts are too extreme to be typed out here.....

what have they ever done to improve primary and secondary education in this country??

the country faces acute shortage of skilled workers. .and reservation is one ofthe culprits... people who are not worth it get degrees and pass out of college just cause seats were reserved for them!

and really you think people will change their mindsets from religious to economic?? lol.. no man .not gonna happen in a next few hundred years.!

as long as the politicians play the religion card ..people are not gonna change..and why should they??

why should you stand on your feet when your been spoonfed all your life!

that`s what people are becoming in this nation.. they cant stand on their own 2 feet... what the heck will they improve this country !

the iitians/iim`s studs.. shoul protest against this... and its they who can decide the future on the premier institutes!
 
i dont think this bill is going to pass becoz call the big industrialists r gonna oppose to them. already the statements frm eminent ppl like Ratan Tata and Rahul Bajaj has come saying tht if they have to make reservations for the backward classes in every field they shud do so in the army as well!! all of them r pissed.

this is jus so unfair for the open category. now, the open category is going into minority..as there r very few seats left for them. tht way even we want reservation!

india being the largest democracy talks bout equality! and the politicians think tht by reserving the seats they r gonna achieve tht! if equality has to be brought why not compete with the general category??!:@ :@

jus today there was a program Big Fight on NDTV and a very important point was made tht when the companies wud come for recruitment they wud certainly ask for the caste certificate. they wud like to know if the candidate came by the reservations or qualified the exam. and then those reserved ppl will be certainly thrown out! whose gonna be responible to tht then?

indian education system sucks big time! they need to wake up and do smthing quickly if they dont want to lose the cream of the country! :@
 
Well, yeah... all the intelligent people of the country are protesting. But are they in Parliament?? No they are not. What can they do??

dont mistake me. I would be absolutely over the moon if they can use their influence and do something. But I dont think that could happen
 
This really sucks. Reservations should be based on financial condition, not on caste.

How can someone be assured of the financial condition of a person, to make a reservation based on it in the first place ????

The reservation against castes are fine, although the cutoffs and quotas are silly. There has to be a proper balance for something like this to actually be effective.

I am quite sure we got ppl here who got contacts and ppl who wd kno hw to use the contacts..

Combine the two and we hv a medium to raise out voice...

Callin all sch ppl ... pour in ur ideas and we can kick smthin off to actually get noticed.. not jst that we shd be blurtin our hearts out and make ourself feel lighter..
 
well this is absolute non sense. reservations what good that do to anyone anyway. I dont know why politicians always have to come up with stupid ideas instead of trying to improve the nation.

I don't know when Manmohan will start taking his own decisions rather being a puppet.

there is already a method is place for that.
Atleast in maharashtra, you can get admission under OBC/SC/NT reservations if you dont have non-creamy layer certificate.
Limit to that was 1.5lac/Anum income of total family a while ago and now its upto 2 opr 2.5lac ( i am not sure about this, when i was in junior college it was 1.5lac ).
If your family income is more than that then you cant get advantage of caste reservations. This is good system which is in place but as always there are ways to bypass this.
My point is there are plenty of others who dont fall in OBC/SC/NT class but they cant go for premier education only because they dont have enough money to pay for fees.
Something should be done in this regard rather than caste based reservations.
We call ourself secular, and we still have system of reservation based on caste and religion in our country. These two things contradict each other.
 
I call the UPA government taking "one step forward and 2 backwards."

COngress should change its name to Minority League or Muslim League. PERIOD.
