The iPad apps thread...

There are tons of cases available on the net. I personally prefer a silicon cover align with a neoprene case. Though I do have a slim leather case which doubles up as a stand...

Yes but I did a complete research amongst 15 brands and the zoogue is a winner for me .Followed by incase , and mar ware Eco vue . Spent a week checking every single case out. Piel frama and sena cases are good too if u have 280$to spare

on a different note, but considering this thread will have the target audience, what better place than this..
Where do I get a decent case for the ipad
Picked up the 16GB 3G version last week but didn't pick the apple cover (too xpensive)
So need to hunt for a cover locally now

Czar have a look at the dodo case. Pretty interesting, otherwise they have some cheap generic cases on the eBay India. I got one and it's decent. But I still prefer using it with a silicon cover with a sleeve. Also do check out the iPad stand which I made. Too bad one of my customers robbed me off it. Gonna make a version 2.0 with some changes.

Just tried ZumoCast! Its brilliant! Very similar to Air Video except for:

a) Allows you to view streaming Audio/Video/Pictures from your machine

b) Allows you to download content from your machine to your iPad

c) Best of all, its free!!

Btw, I just upgraded to 4.2 Beta and this app works like a charm with native multi-tasking!

It supposedly doesn't handle the vids too well! Haven't tried it personally yet, but thats what I get from the initial reviews!

@Pat - Regular Xvid, DivX, MKV etc files run smoothly out of the box. When I got to 720p encoded videos, thats when it started crashing. So we are still stuck with Apple encoded HD videos. :(

^^Yup, essentially all these are software decoding solutions and are bound to be not-so-good performancewise! Having said that, have you tried your 720p rips in OPlayer HD or the new Buzz Player ?

Not as yet. Just been encoding them for iPad with Handbrake. Works fine but leaves a need for more.

I'll give OPlayer HD a try. How about you? Any measurable success with 720p video?

Had a quick question here, without attempting to hijack this thread....does the mutitasking function(with OS 4) work well with a 3G itouch/iphone?

^^You need to be jailbroken to enable multi-tasking on iPhone 3G running iOS 4!

On topic, LifeBrowser just got a massive update and looks brilliant. Will try it out soon.

Also need to try out "Fullscreen browser" tweak available in Cydia which enables multi-touch gestures while browsing in Safari!
