Playing Jagged Alliance 2 for the nth time. This time only with my own IMP merc and Maddog as free mule to carry the spare ammo. JA2 lovers will know what I'm talking about
In JA2, you play as a gun for hire whose sevices are availed to free a country from the clutches of an evil dictator. Ok, so you first create your customised mercenary for a one time payment and then hire a band of mercenaries online (on renewable contract) and begin the action. Take on the dictator's army, hire locally available mercs, free a town at a time, train militia, keep the mines (your income source) under control, go for side quests to improve the local populace's confidence in you and so on. Its turn based while in battle which reverts to free roam mode when no enemy is in sight. Each mercenary has charater stats which determine his ability to, for example, fire accurately, repair a gun, apply first aid, interact with an NPC etc. And these can be improved over time.
This game never fails to impress me with the variety of gameplay possible. Sometimes I really wonder why this amazing turn based strategy-rpg never even gets a mention, although it has all the now cliched elements that are flashed with every new release (which rarely matches this blurb); co-operating and flanking enemies (not just some scripted events), a massive array of weapons, destructible environment, great rpg elements, the greatest voice acting ever...and come to think of it, the gaphics are not bad at all.
Its too complicated for me to review here, if interested just pay a visit to this nice
