I dont know if i am the only one, but the new market section is pretty boring, bland, ineffecient and it makes you want to close it and search for other alternatives online, i have bought and sold quite a few things from the market but some reason i am unable to adjust with the new market, from the layout to the navigation to the visual changes nothing feels as convenient as it was before, earlier it used to be real fun navigating around the market section checking out different things but now its not the same, as they say "if it aint broke dont fix it". Minor changes here and there could have been fine rather then a complete and unecessary overhaul, i am sure you guys have your own reasons but as a regular TE user i am pretty dissapointed,i dont know about other users but i am.

Care to elaborate on how it has become boring and bland and inefficient?

Even i would agree, you people messed up the market. I am not feeling like putting up my stuff for sale even.

There was a reason I used to visit techenclave, now its become something like techtree.

Umm..TBH the classified section is killing the market section.

The major drawback (according to me) of the classified section is that market thread are not displayed in regular search (View new Content).

I would like if mods/admins reconsider this and re-launch the market section.

I see, your reason for visiting TE was market section. Interesting.

Anyway, like I said already, unless you specify what is it so different about the market that stops you from 'putting up your stuff on sale' there is nothing that can be done about it.

Some suggestions for the new classifieds:

1. The spacing between the classifieds is so much, that one cannot view 20 threads at a time.

2. The classifieds should still act as a thread where people can share info, and post their opinions. Cause after all this is a forum and not Qui*ckr, etc.

3. Some good bits of classifieds can be adapted into market threads:

Eg1: The sorting according to last visit, 24hrs, day, month, is a very good feature and should be retained.

Eg2: Making the pics mandatory, and a standard form feature per item which shows Item detail, purchase detail and sale detail.

4. One should be able to create a single thread for multiple items which each belong to a different category.

If I have a CPU, PSU, and a mouse for sale. I can just create a thread, add item, add details to each item, and they should get title-prefix-tags assigned to it.

[FS][CPU][HDD][GPU] Selling my E7200, 1TB seagate 7200.12 and HD4850 at great prices

[FS][CME] SCCF 120mm with kaze jyuni and 1366 bracket. (CME is short for cooling modding electricals)

5. "Contact advertiser directly" is a great feature and must be retained.

6. iTrust/reputation, seller's location, posts in TE, age (if public) should show under the username and avatar of OP.

My comments are inline. Thanks for the feedback.

Some suggestions for the new classifieds:

1. The spacing between the classifieds is so much, that one cannot view 20 threads at a time.

Can be done

2. The classifieds should still act as a thread where people can share info, and post their opinions. Cause after all this is a forum and not Qui*ckr, etc.

Can be looked into but will take some time

Eg2: Making the pics mandatory, and a standard form feature per item which shows Item detail, purchase detail and sale detail.

Can you elaborate on the second part. Isnt the form standard?

Alright now this is what a feedback should be. Please don't make irritating posts like, "I am so sad you messed my life".

I urge you all to make your suggestions and we will definitely try to incorporate as many as possible. Some may take time but if they make sense they will be done.

I just posted a WTB thread? post? in the new Market or Classified. It was a little different but change is something that keeps happening.

Of course there are a few flaws.

No discussion, means a person depends solely on PM which can increase fraudulent cases since one cannot share info on fraudster etc. Also absence of a thread like system means that each individual PM or message has to be responded to, esp with repetitive information.

I found both WTB and WTS jumbled up. Is that me or is that how the classifieds are? Also unless we look to the extreme right there is no way of knowing if someone's selling it or requesting a quote.

However the new format is refreshing and I would like to see it in a little more polished avatar than go back to the old market threads.

Even I would ask for that. Also moving Want to buy or sell in the beginning will clear some confusion.

There is a 'Questions' tab for discussion. That will keep the discussion informative and avoid all the "+1, good deal, bump for my friend, i saw this on the moon for 100 Rs. less" type posts.

I too noticed the WTB and FS threads are a little difficult to distinguish, I'm sure Renegade will be able to tweak that.

@others : I do not see us going back to the old Market subforum - so don't bother asking

Like I said in another thread, there was far too much moderation needed to keep it in check and people weren't following the guidelines. Give people a blank thread and say read the guidelines and most of them won't bother. I'd say 50% of daily reports were from the Market section : no pics, no price, wrong section, off-topic posts.. etc.

Classifieds has all of this properly laid out, so its very difficult to mess it up. That level of customisation is not possible with a regular thread.

How do you suggest that we display the price then?

IMHO, I loved the new classified section. I always hated that market threads are being visible when I try to find new Posts (Articles and queries, not listings).. Maybe there is room for improvement of layout of market but the classifieds is much better solution than old Market threads

+1 to that ... its too spaced out... could without the product thumbnails (coz anyways u can't judge the product quality thru such small pics)

I would have preferred the old market to continue any day... but thats my personal opinion...

The old market gave me a feeling of visiting a user forum... but the new 'Classifieds' layout is just screaming EBAY

What i would like is, merge the current format of the classified section into the Member Market, rather then then classified section.

Make a mandatory thread format for the Member Market (MM), with necessary blocks like

Price :

Date of purchase :

Warranty :

Reason :

Location :

etc.etc

Similarly, a WTB thread format can be created with datas like

Item (what a member wants to buy):

Price (max budget):

Location to be shipped:

but there are already options to sort the type of thread and to navigate to desired section right from classifieds home

Since Pics are a mandatory market rule on TE. Its better to rename the field to one that offers some important information as already pointed out above by CA50

A bit of what I have in mind for the current classifieds' immediate improvements:

vPTCO.jpg

PS:

1. The item details are in a fixed-form format, which is mandatory to be filled by thread creator. Similar to what CA50 mentioned above. (Thats what I meant standard form. Just like a signup form, different fields are mandatory to filled)

2. OP gets a drop-down menu for selecting product category for each product. These tags will later get assigned to the Title automatically (or manually)

The fact that people are not liking and avoiding the market section suggests that the admins have done a great job! I personally give a thumbs up.

Actually even I feel new Classified Section is bit bland & unorganized compared to older Market section

In the front page i.e Classified Home, there should be sections as there were in older market threads. (e.g Currently all classified listings are mixed up of all categories thus making it look more boring)

Suggestion : 1. Put in categories back on front page just like old market section, on clicking on specific user will get all classifieds related to that particular category, makes browsing easier.

Suggestion 2 : Better Icon/Symbol for FS & WTB threads, currently its really confusing to differentiate a WTB or FS thread as it was much easier in earlier market sec.

Except Market Sec, I feel rest of TE is really fine tuned & lot of hard work (#smart_work) has been done by Mods & other programmers.

My 200th post, glad it was a suggestion & not some rant about Online Shopping Experience
