Thats true 20 people might bump their thread as well, but still i have the option to bu,p my thread after 24 hours. so visibility (even for a short period of time) is guaranteed.

3. Questions tab

The question tab is available, but a public (or discussion) way is better. Since this is a tech discussion forum, so vital discussion on the sale (or deal) thread is necessary. The PM methods simply makes it ebay type

my views are posted in bold.

Pros of MM:

1. Other members can keep track of the deal as well. Saves time of unnecessary queries like - is it sold? is is available? etc. etc

2. Suppose a members list a out-of-the-world price, others can point that out, else some noobs might go for that deal.

3. As said before, public posting makes it forum-type and the new PM communication method makes it ebay-type

4. [more might come]

Cons:

1. Previous MM lead to more rules violation etc.

Solution: Simply increase moderation, if necessary increase man-power

1. In the new classifieds after I sold off something but I don't want to close the ad till the buyer receives it and is satified, there should be a option of keeping the ad open but marking it as "SOLD". This would be helpful to both buyers and sellers.

2. There is no option to add further comment, clarification etc by the advertiser after a certain period of time after the ad is created (unless asked for by someone).
 
Well i have a suggestion and a query.

Suggestion:

1. Is it possible to combine the Overview and Features tab into one and include a template which needs to be filled up and has more options than the current 4 options given in the Overview tab. Well its my opinion that that the Questions tab can be renamed as Discussion tab or something of that kind. Afterall its a forum and people like to discuss and share before buying. This will definitely make the classified more lively.

Query:

1. When will it be possible to edit the adverts? The classified at the moment seem hard and inflexible because of that. It seems like a redudant part of TE.

By the way love the Watch Advert feature and the Random Classified feature. The new layout has made the section more cleaner and hassle free.

- If you're worried about visibility, put a newspaper ad. A bump is only intended to show a trade is active, for some selfish reason you seem to think a bump is to improve your trade's visibility - why should your trade be more important than someone elses?.

- How many n00bs here have bought something at an absurd price only to be saved by the TE OT discussion committee?

1. Why don't you close it and open it later if the buyer is not satisfied. What good is the status "sold" going to achieve?

2. Fair point. This along with price edit is something that we are looking into.

1. Getting rid of the tabbed structure is already planned.

What other options do you want in the overview tab? Please list them down.

We can rename it to anything if it solves the purpose.

"Sold" tag would be helpful in avoiding unnecessary PMs. Closing and re-opening is not a good option I think because in that case it depends on the seller. It will be better if the thread isn't closed till the deal is completed satisfactorily.

Also, it would be better not to allow to edit the first post after a period of time say 1 hour. A seller can add clarification or revise through a "followup" section. That would be helpful in avoiding situation like I post something and after I receive the money, I change something in the original post (to my benefit).

1. Not sure how many cases of unneccessary PM exist. Even otherwise it is advisable to discuss the differences over PM first. If you have an issue with the deal then simply report it.

2. That is why editing is not allowed right now. Unless we have a way of maintaining edit logs, we won't be enabling the edit feature.

Removing the tabbed structure would definitly help.

Other than the options given in Overview tab i would like to see a few more which help in buying a product:

1. Purchase Date:

2. Condition:

3. Warranty left (Indian/Abroad):

4. Local sale/open for shipping:

5. Invoice available(yes/no):

These options can give a lot of information to the buyer.

All i want is to see this section become more interactive but at the same time should give lesser headache to the mods. Complete rehaul is the first step and very much appriciated but fine tuning and adjustments in the best interest of the forum is required.

Created one. Couldn't edit later. If i could do it, everybody could do that and that makes the sales thread looks so out of place and incomplete. I posted here because i want it to be convenient for the buyer. Using a template makes sure thread don't end up looking like mine

When I post a wanted Classified, It still asks me for the mandatory fields like pics, it is necessary ( I mean the fields should be relevant to the posting , ie if I want to Buy or Sell. )

or am I doing some thing wrong ?

I also clicked on the option of Wanted while posting.

i had an old thread that looked so stupid but now its much much better.

It is now better and more informative. Just in this option "Warranty available in:" there should be one more option "not applicable" for products out of warranty.

The system does not have that intelligence yet. SO you will have to fill NA for all.
 
Its not a work in progress at all. Just that the developer did not know that one day it will be used on TE. Otherwise he might have closed the project long back.

Has been done. Clear your cache.

We are looking at the feasibility to implement most of the views mentioned here except the one which wants us to move back to the forum. However the concerns behind that request will be addressed as well, albeit in a different manner.

The information laid out will also be arranged properly so that it makes it more intuitive.

Please pour in more inputs so that we can prepare a feature enhancement list and work on that. We aim to make it the most feature rich and user friendly market so your inputs are highly solicited.
