TGS Trailer [MUST WATCH!] :

Fired up the game after concluding LBP 2 and from whatever I could gather after playing the first chapter, this seems to be another attempt from one of those Jap developers to mimic the Vikram-Betal story after Enslaved and Dante's Inferno.

Heinrich bears a huge scythe a la Dante and the blade is as long as snath! He can pull off a variety of combos with the usual heavy attack and light attack. Can as well grab an enemy akin to GOW 3 and can throw him, slice him with the scythe or use it as a battering ram against the other opponents similar to GOW 3. Gretchen, his accomplice is a resurrected witch who died at the hands of Heinrich himself sometime back when he was forced to kill her and she curses him with immortality. So the rockstar can't DIE but instead Gretchen can be wounded and if she does losing all the health, then it marks THE END! :P

To heal her quickly, Heinrich should carry her on his arms (lolwut!). With Gretchen in the vicinity, he is able to execute the opponents with her witch-craft, with finishing moves in QTE. Orbs can be collected after killing the opponents and this unlocks newer witch-crafts from Gretchen. The first level was pretty much training oriented with a easy boss fight to finish it off. Heinrich can parry but cannot jump probably owing to the heavy scythe.

As far as the performance is concerned, frame drops are visible during intense fights. Camera angles tend to be sucky around corners. Pre-rendered cuscenes do not have screen tearing issues - none that I have noticed as yet.
Seems like another decent TP with okayish hack-en-slash elements.

Had some decent progress by far. Crossed Chapter 10. I have mixed feelings about the game. Sucky and easy boss fights, frame drops during fight sequences, a useless map etc among the shortcomings. It could have been a whole lot easier without the b1tch accompanying Heinrich. The map is completely useless. There are absolutely no pointers on where to head to in a chapter and had to run around in circles a couple of times, only to realise I had revisited this place a while back. :|

DMC 3 is one of the better hack & slash games I would love going back to.

Completed it a while back. A sucky ass game with a sucky ass map, a sucky storyline and piss easy boss fights. The only saver was the twist in the plot towards the end. Even the last cutscene wasn't required IMO. I would rate Heavenly Sword a notch above this game although both the titles were fcukall. It was just plain button mashing and countless boss battles towards the end. Performance on the PS3 sucked donkey balls with frame drops during battles. :|

*my fingers hurt*

Holy LOL!

Craptastic reviews indeed.

Wiki said:
Reception for Knights Contract has ranged from poor to average. Gamespot gave the game a 6.5 rating stating that with erratic pacing and often-aggravating boss fights, Knights Contract doesn't always feel like a worthwhile adventure. Yet though the flashy combat isn't very complex, it's fun to wield your deadly weapon and powerful magic spells in brutal tandem. The problematic gameplay elements can dampen this fun, but the stylish artistic design and interesting story help counterbalance these issues. Knights Contract isn't a game for those without the patience to push through some trying times, but those who persevere will find some savage satisfaction. GameFocus on the other hand gave a completely negative review of the game stating that the levels were poorly designed, the boss battles were frustrating and that the camera was wonky.
