The Perfume / Fragrance Thread

I will start with my query here.
I'm a 40 plus year old guy and wants to buy his first good perfume. My only experience with perfumes is the ones that my relatives would get from US (when I was younger) and one I bought myself was souled store galactica which seems to be a knock off of David off coolwater.
I have absolutely zero knowledge of perfume. I just started browsing the subreddit /r/desifragranceaddicts and have got enlightened with many new terms. I am checking the posts there and found some recommendations like
Blue by Ahmed
Hawas / Hawas Ice, Hawas Black
Nautica voyager

But then i am getting totally lost. Also found that people order sample / trial / decadents of say 5ml and such sizes to try before committing to fill 100ml bottles. I am open to doing that but that also I don't know what to order as those sample ones aren't cheap either.

If you want designer perfumes, I’d recommend:
  • Tom Ford Ombre Leather
  • YSL Y EDP
  • Jean Paul Gaultier - LE MALE LE PARFUM
  • Dior Sauvage.
I have personally used them and would also highly recommend them.

Also, Azarro - The most wanted. This is my current favorite.

My designer recommendation is Dior Homme Sport!

Very Citrus-y and fresh and spicy, and has a wooden aromatic base.
It's my go to summer fragrance.

Profondo clone is a 20ml decant I got from XLNC perfumery. It is a pretty good clone to be honest.

You will not go wrong with Azzaro. Azzaro - Most Wanted and Pour Homme will definitely make others take notice of you. It also lasts long for couple of hours. There are too many knockoffs so need to chose where you buy it.
 
Does anyone have link for a cheap small and easy to carry atomizer bottle to carry perfume in say office bag or so? I see there are some available that look like lipstick. They can be filled with directly pumping perfume from main bottle to this.

I only need one but at some places, they are selling 4 pack. I thought meesho may have something very cheap but seems no dice there too.
 
People who wear perfume on a daily basis, can you please enlighten me on one thing? How and where is one supposed to spray the perfume on their body? I've read about it and there are talks about that there are some pulse points where one should be applying a perfume, but I'm still confused. From whatever I read I found that one is supposed to apply on both the wrist on the inner side, then behind the ears, one spray at the back of your neck and also couple of sprays near where our collar sits. Is this true?
That is total of 7 sprays. Am I missing something. I want to sure it isn't overdone.
Please help.

I personally do at most 4-5 sprays. 1-2 collar, 1 back of the neck, and 2 inside of the wrists.

For the fragrances I have, I find that this is more than enough.

Yes. You are right. These are the exact points where I spray. Pulse points. Some people also apply Vaseline on their pulse points and then spray on top of it. This ensures longevity. I haven’t personally tried it though.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I am learning so much. Even at 41 years age, I was so dumb w.r.t perfume that I was only applying when I would go "out" and apply on clothes from top to bottom. Feel dumb now.
Always wondered how some people smelled so good.
Hoping to become one where people may say (within their mind) that I smell good.

Btw I bought Wildstone Edge perfume from amazon. I know it not the cream of crop but I went through /r/desifragranceaddicts and even this one is appreciated (hyped?).
I too like it but then I have no reference of any other perfume so I will definitely like it.

Its a good cheapie. Tries to clone Rasasi Hawas with that bubblegumy smell. If going for another under 400-500rs bottle, try Ramsons Stud next.

Anyone tried L'Aventure Intense? i am really confused between CDNIM PP and L'Aventure Intense...i have tried CDNIM but the partial i have isn't very long lasting.. laventure on the other hand i tried a 2ml decant long back which wasn't enough to judge..
