Sorry if there has been a thread on this game before; Could not notice any; :ashamed:

OK so as the title says that's supposedly the sequel to F.E.A.R but not named as F.E.A.R 2 due to Vivendi's ownership of the F.E.A.R. name.

Most of us loved the original F.E.A.R due to the inbound psychological horror and adrenaline-pumping action the game induced in us [despite games like Doom 3 not appealing to some of them out there :P] and most of them did like its successive expansion F.E.A.R: Extraction Point although the second expansion F.E.A.R: Perseus Mandate did not do too well and was just another expansion;

Here're a few details about the game:

  • Release date: Fall 2008
  • Developer: Monolith Productions
  • Publisher: Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment
  • Game engine: Lithtech: Jupiter Ex
  • Platforms: PS3, X360, PC
  • Genre: FPS; Psychological horror
  • ESRB rating: Mature
  • PEGI rating: 18+

The game utilizes the same game engine from its prequel F.E.A.R - Lithtech: Jupiter Ex; hence the game may boast of the same requirements it had for its prequel although any advancements are likely as well.

The game has a different publisher this time: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment; for reasons unknown Vivendi Universal was dropped as the publisher this time.

Storyline: The sequel to F.E.A.R. continues the supernatural suspense story of a powerful psychic child named Alma, whose rage against those who wronged her caused her to begin an escalating paranormal crisis that threatens to devour and replace reality with her own. Instead of playing as the Point Man, the game's protagonist is Michael Becket, a Delta Force operative whose squad is sent in to arrest Genevieve Aristide approximately thirty minutes before the ending of F.E.A.R. At some point in the game, the player character, via surgery, will receive reflex powers exhibiting the same slow-motion ability like the Point Man. Hello,

I'm the Community Manager for Project Origin here at Monolith. Appreciate the nice postings about the game. Just wanted to clear up a few points about engine. We are actually not using the Lithtech: Jupiter EX engine. We are using an internally developed engine. We don't have the specs for the PC version of the game, but we are definitely expecting them to be higher than F.E.A.R.

Also...

Concerning the expansions. Monolith didn't develop either of the expansions (Perseus Mandate, Extraction Point) and in fact the storyline for Project Origin is ignoring them entirely. Project Origin will begin approximately 30 minutes before the end of F.E.A.R. and the story will progress from there.

There is a lot of great information on the Project Origin Community site ( PROJECT ORIGIN COMMUNITY - AGE VERIFICATION) please feel free to swing on by.

I am yet to play Perseus Mandate, but absolutely loved FEAR and Extraction Point. They were too good.
Trust me.If you have played & enjoyed FEAR & Extraction point, Perseus Mandate would feel like a crash course gone wrong. This is a disgrace to the F.E.A.R league. If you look at the graphics that F.E.A.R had set up as a benchmark earlier, well this games washes it out completely.Feels like a 2D port for crying out loud.Wait for Project Origin.PERIOD.:)
